Nice 929 on CL...

Thought I would post this up, looks like a sweet bike at a good price! Sometimes I like to think "firm" doesn't mean exactly that also

929's are sick! I don't know what you're talkin bout bro.
but for $4000 I'd rather get a dirtysex or a double R.
if the 929 was priced at $2500 i'd hump that ish for days.

You are right, I should have left the racing part out of my response. Just seems to me many people dont give due respect to great bikes just because they are not familier with them. I would take Honda over any Yamaha no question. I see these kids who think that yamaha's in particular are the best bikes around, when honda has always been a leader in quality and performance. especially for the price.

didnt you just ask why you had to race to earn respect? Then you tell me to race when I retracted my statement about racing, and i said I should have left that portion out of my post. And you say to race? seems a like a contradiction? no?

No, I'm saying lets take the bike to a road racing track. Lets see what it can do And racing on the track is fun as hell

It's a nice bike and I would love to have one (in black and yellow of course ), but you also have to remember that they are 8 years old now. You can't throw a blanket "line em up and race" statement out there with a stock bike that's 8 years old, heavier, and has 70 less cc's than other new liter bikes on the market imho I know, I know, you retracted it

having ridden a gsxr1000 for 2 years, i think i have a good idea of what one has and coming from someone who has ridden both i would have to say the 929 would take that race. and heavier? my cbr weighs 375lbs. what is that gsxr?

You are smoking some serious crack if you think your old 929 will beat a new 1k. I happen to have the same bike as Matt did if you care to find out.

I've ridden both of the bikes and the GSXR will take it hands down regardless... The GSXR may be a tad heavier, but the power to weight is unreal in comparison. I'm willing to bet your comparison is on an older GSXR. There was a lot of technology developed in those 8 years buddy. Again I have ridden both of the bikes in question and there is NO comparison or question. Not trying to knock the 929's cause I like them, it just the facts... Sorry to disappoint

I don't care what year Gixxer you have, that 929 won't stand a chance. When the Gixxer 1k came out back in 01 they put it against every other liter bike and nothing came close, including the 929. Two years later they put it against the 954 and guess what, the Gixxer smoked it. Now add 8 years of development to that Gixxer... yeah, NO!

I have had my 929 now for 8 years and that bike is like a sore dick....you just can't beat it, 32,000 flawless miles and still running strong. Yes, not as much motor as the Mighty Gix 1000.
