| Upgrade for gen1 SV forks?
Lindemann Engineering modified the damper rods and put new springs in the forks of my 2002 SV last winter. I put a few thousand miles and a couple track days on them, but I'd like to get AK20s this winter. I'm not sure what to do with the old parts, but I was thinking about possibly some kind of fork swap or removing the parts and selling them separately. The AK20 kit requires new fork caps, so I'd also have spare caps that are adjustable for preload. What do you think? BTW, I asked LE to spring the forks for 175#. |

ive been seeing alot of conversion pieces for sale for SV's. the parts are all off oyher bikes like f3's and gixxers. i seen where a guy took an 01 gsxr 600 front end and replaced his SV's. i also seen an f3 rear wheel swapped in favor of the SV's. im assuming so a 180 tire could be run. i dont know if you could replace your forks with an inverted set like off an 08-09 gsxr, cbr, r6 or if it would be better to just replace the whole front assembly. |

Yeah, GSXR swaps are hugely popular, but I don't really want to go there. Requires new triples, new wheel, new brakes, new headlight brackets, new speedo, etc., plus you still have to spring & valve them for the SV. The AK20s give you cartridge forks with compression/rebound adjustment and keep the stock (sleeper) look.

better pm svmedussa then and see if he wants your old parts seeing as he is the only other sv guy on here unless you're gonna post them on your sv forum.

Maybe a new hippie bus, and some track time.

So I have an idea of my new ride... the unveiling to take place next winter. for now I am keeping the SV.. Might go race it. I have springs and 20wt oil in mine right now...the rear end is my next upgrade, more ride height. So unless Paul is selling that penske.... ![]() I am doing fine.... Things are going to be interesting this spring, there has been no snow this winter and the farmers can't make money without water for crops. The next easiest way to make money is plant bombs...lucky us. My next Bike will be something no one else has.....kinda like the SV. It will have 4 tiny pistons though. I tossed around the idea of a two stroke NSR.. but thought better of it. Karl will thank me for this I'm sure. Any bets on the new bike? We aquried a beat to crap "cruisin" 125. and we are deciding the best way to get it running again. Allegedly the engine is shot, but there is hope. I hope to be back in time for the labor day full track!! See you then |

I started disassembling the forks last night, but the damper rods are a pain to remove, so I'll let Traxxion do that. I'll post up the spare parts when I get them back. Are you gonna race the SV this year? |

I Ride: 02' SVS 88' GSXR 750 Slingshot | Damnit...I'm I so obvious. yes I am looking for the NC30/29/VFR400 I thought about a GB500....But the wee Hondas have always been a soft spot for me. I figure that since i put myself into harms way for a year i can splurge a little on me. And Yes I am thinking of racing the SV in 2011. I won't be back in time to do much this year, so spending a little on the SV and using the long winter to get it done looks like a good idea. |

If you want to race, I would highly suggest getting your NRC and your 2 provisional rounds out of the way this year - that is if you will be back in time for 2 rounds. It will make your 2011 season much more enjoyable.

I don't think I will be back in time. I will be one of the last of my group to leave. I haven't even looked into what needs to be accomplished, except I know I will have to take a course.... from there who knows. I figure the SV as it sits can be near the back of the pack with me on it. I still have to get the basics out of the way too..safety wire, belly pan, ect... Plus I have no idea how it will have faired this winter and a summer without any run time...or even how I will be after not riding for a year and a half. Hell I wasn't that fast to begin with. Well maybe a little fast..but not real fast. I'll see where I'm at when i get back. On the Plus side guess who's may be going to superbikes in Misano.... ![]() Oh yeah.... I have my choice right now..I may be able to get to Assen for Moto GP...but time will tell. Seeing Ben Spies on the GP bikes would be great, but superbikes is a better show. |

After seeing your SV, Cider, the only thing I would like to see on it are the Buell brakes/rotors. I think those look so sharp on SV's.
