"if you are wanting to improve, don't get the liter bike" Come on, this statement supposes you can't improve on a literbike. Last edited by 0700; 10-22-2009 at 08:58 PM. |

I understand the concept of thinking your bike can't do more, but consider that power is not the limiting factor for your lap times if you are an amature level racer or occasional trackday pilot, I promise you. My first day at Sears Point, I watched an old fat guy in tattered leathers, on a steaming pile of primer grey EX500 HUMILIATE the entire field of intermediate level racers on then new 750s and literbikes. I immediately gained a new understanding of the limits of horsepower and the human bodies ability to circle a track with it. I've done a few track days, (OK, alot) on several different bikes, including motards. My fastest laps have never been made on my most powerful bikes. If you feel tyres are the issue, then do what I did, and go blow your wad on race slicks. I say this because they are a fantastic and yet humbling experience, that will certainly put the zip back into your ZX6R. Plus, the addition of slicks will certainly enable you to increase your corner speed and enjoy the increased safety of additional traction, at a fraction of the cost of a literbike. Now imagine getting that liter bike, going faster in the straights, but now you have to brake harder in the corners because you will be riding on essentially the same tyres as your 600. Did you suddenly become safer? Now imagine getting passed by a fat guy on a primered EX500, because he's coming for you. Get whatever bike floats your boat, because its your money. (Actually, its the banks money, but I digress). But don't try to sell us on the idea that you are doing it to be SAFER. Save that arguement for your mother who might not know any better. Also nobody is saying whether or not you went fast enough to deserve a 1k. Simply throwing out good advice, some of us like seeing others quickly improve, and not end up going backwards. Quote:
I use more corner speed than you with less lean angle, race rubber or pilot powers. Quote:
Like I said buy what you want, but if you want to improve stick with what you got. Last edited by stubby; 10-22-2009 at 11:13 PM.

I don't care though, go buy your 1k, and go park it in the corners so you can look cool on the straights.... Oh, and several guys happen to run more than 1 bike, so convincing them would be rather easy. A famous example of this would be Sofuoglu, he was the WSS champ and tried to race superbike (1000) as well. He went back to only WSS (or 600s) as he wasn't that good on a liter bike. ![]() All in good fun man. We get it. You have maxxed out the abilities your 2009 ZX6. Any pointers you can give me? I'm prone to oversteering my bike in the chicanes forcing me to wait too long to get back on the gas.

Just some more food for thought: Have you ever noticed how many of the crashed bikes at a track day are 1ks? And mind you 600s have a larger population at the track. |

![]() I would say switch over to a jap bike, but I don't see you ever doing that... adjust rake/trail. That will be $60 please pull forward to the second window.

ok ok ok, time for my ![]() who cares what he can or can not do? He is selling his bike, he obviously has his reasons. Howard & Stubby make very awesome valid points, but Mr. 0700 thinks he knows what he can or can not do. You made your points, now the ball is in his hands to decide to take the advice and get better with what he has or go bigger faster and harder to prove an accident is waiting to happen. Nice Bike, Nice Price! Good Luck |

Gotta love it. The 09 Kawi is a sick friggin bike! I'd buy it from you if I had expendable income. Really. I've wanted this bike since the day it was introduced. Maybe you will keep it til spring and I may be able to buy it from you? To continue the drama: 600's are slow! 1000's are slower! you gotta get a 636 to be fast! hahahahahahahahahaha! |

I'd buy it if I could afford it. Cool bike and good price. I agree with the less-is-more theory (I ride a girls' bike, after all), but I don't think a guy needs an excuse to buy what he wants. |

if and when i decide to start running road courses it sure as hell wont be on my 10, i will buy a 600 just for the simple fact that i can stab the throttle a hell of a lot sooner when exiting the corner

He still feels really bad for backing out on you, but he had to think about his business and having a bike sit all winter not creating any revenue he said was just too much for him. He is a really nice guy though. I know if I had the funds I'd be all over this bike. Good luck with the sale on a sweet priced, super nice bike. |

Getting talked down to and cursed out has really made me reconsider selling the ZX6R, because I hadn’t put any thought into keeping before. I'll get new tires and ride around all the 1k parked in the corners for another season.
