He doesn't have the power or top end to pass liter bikes or 600s but he does, and he does this on corner speed.

Second, you can run "A" group pace on pilot powers. So tires and power is not what is limiting you. As the saying goes it's better to be fast on a slow bike than slow on a fast bike. If you are slow on a 600, you will be even slower on the 1k. You might be able to shed a second or two on the straights but your corner speed will suffer or you will crash and well that mentally screws you over for some time.

If you think tires are holding you back, then it sounds like you are at max lean angle. Try fixing body position to use less with even more corner speed.

Get what you want, but if you are wanting to improve, don't get the liter bike.
so why then do you run tires other than regular pilot powers?

"if you are wanting to improve, don't get the liter bike"

Come on, this statement supposes you can't improve on a literbike.

i have an 08 zx10. it is more nimble than any 600 i have ever ridden and has smooth power delivery.

Clarification: The ZX6 had LOWER lap times, indicating faster laps then the literbikes.

I understand the concept of thinking your bike can't do more, but consider that power is not the limiting factor for your lap times if you are an amature level racer or occasional trackday pilot, I promise you. My first day at Sears Point, I watched an old fat guy in tattered leathers, on a steaming pile of primer grey EX500 HUMILIATE the entire field of intermediate level racers on then new 750s and literbikes. I immediately gained a new understanding of the limits of horsepower and the human bodies ability to circle a track with it. I've done a few track days, (OK, alot) on several different bikes, including motards. My fastest laps have never been made on my most powerful bikes. If you feel tyres are the issue, then do what I did, and go blow your wad on race slicks. I say this because they are a fantastic and yet humbling experience, that will certainly put the zip back into your ZX6R. Plus, the addition of slicks will certainly enable you to increase your corner speed and enjoy the increased safety of additional traction, at a fraction of the cost of a literbike.

Now imagine getting that liter bike, going faster in the straights, but now you have to brake harder in the corners because you will be riding on essentially the same tyres as your 600. Did you suddenly become safer? Now imagine getting passed by a fat guy on a primered EX500, because he's coming for you.
Get whatever bike floats your boat, because its your money. (Actually, its the banks money, but I digress). But don't try to sell us on the idea that you are doing it to be SAFER. Save that arguement for your mother who might not know any better.

I made the "SLOWER" 1k mistake before and had I got the 750 I was shopping for instead of the latest-greatest 600, I wouldn't be trading up. I lost interest in the 600 in 2005 and I've lost interest again. I'm going to bow out again and try a better liter bike, because that what I keep coming back to.
Speed is only one part of the equation. Look at the worlds greatest racers. Notice how much time was spent on small bikes. The small/slow bike will make you fast. Relying upon a motor to make up time doesn't make anyone a better rider but it will expose your weaknesses even more.

Also nobody is saying whether or not you went fast enough to deserve a 1k. Simply throwing out good advice, some of us like seeing others quickly improve, and not end up going backwards.

Track day pace and race pace are 2 different things. I run race rubber as its already on my race bike. Why would I want to spend an extra 300 for a track day? Also the heat becomes a factor while racing, and we try to get everything out of our tires including life.

I use more corner speed than you with less lean angle, race rubber or pilot powers.

You can, but like I said your lap times at most will improve by 2 seconds (from the straights). Your learning curve will drastically slow down. But what would I know anyhow, I'm never at the track. Why do you think I don't track my 1k?

Like I said buy what you want, but if you want to improve stick with what you got.

I do care about getting the most out of whatever I'm on to a point and then moving to something else that can be expected to run with my friends.
You really have no ###king clue..... The fact that you don't understand what not only I but Andrew said, says enough. No body is saying DONT BUY, we are trying to tell you that you aren't going to be faster on the bigger bike, along with other things like slowing down your learning curve. You did sit there and spout off ###t that made no sense about the track - "My tires and power are limiting me".... BULL###t!!! YOU are limiting yourself.

I don't care though, go buy your 1k, and go park it in the corners so you can look cool on the straights....

Oh, and several guys happen to run more than 1 bike, so convincing them would be rather easy. A famous example of this would be Sofuoglu, he was the WSS champ and tried to race superbike (1000) as well. He went back to only WSS (or 600s) as he wasn't that good on a liter bike.

All in good fun man.

We get it. You have maxxed out the abilities your 2009 ZX6. Any pointers you can give me? I'm prone to oversteering my bike in the chicanes forcing me to wait too long to get back on the gas.

Just some more food for thought:

Have you ever noticed how many of the crashed bikes at a track day are 1ks? And mind you 600s have a larger population at the track.

Slow it down psycho

I would say switch over to a jap bike, but I don't see you ever doing that... adjust rake/trail. That will be $60 please pull forward to the second window.

ok ok ok, time for my

who cares what he can or can not do? He is selling his bike, he obviously has his reasons.

Howard & Stubby make very awesome valid points, but Mr. 0700 thinks he knows what he can or can not do. You made your points, now the ball is in his hands to decide to take the advice and get better with what he has or go bigger faster and harder to prove an accident is waiting to happen.

Nice Bike, Nice Price! Good Luck

Brn drama

Gotta love it.

The 09 Kawi is a sick friggin bike!
I'd buy it from you if I had expendable income.
Really. I've wanted this bike since the day it was introduced.
Maybe you will keep it til spring and I may be able to buy it from you?

To continue the drama:
600's are slow! 1000's are slower! you gotta get a 636 to be fast! hahahahahahahahahaha!

I'd buy it if I could afford it. Cool bike and good price.

I agree with the less-is-more theory (I ride a girls' bike, after all), but I don't think a guy needs an excuse to buy what he wants.

if and when i decide to start running road courses it sure as hell wont be on my 10, i will buy a 600 just for the simple fact that i can stab the throttle a hell of a lot sooner when exiting the corner

R1Bran and I actually talked to the rental guy who backed out on you at the last trackday. He still feels really bad for backing out on you, but he had to think about his business and having a bike sit all winter not creating any revenue he said was just too much for him. He is a really nice guy though.

I know if I had the funds I'd be all over this bike. Good luck with the sale on a sweet priced, super nice bike.

Getting talked down to and cursed out has really made me reconsider selling the ZX6R, because I hadn’t put any thought into keeping before. I'll get new tires and ride around all the 1k parked in the corners for another season.
