I could see that. That's similar to left-foot braking in a car to settle it down over bumps.

So back to the OP. I wouldnt use crappy parts on anything that my save your life.
HH pads are pretty much the standard for good brakes.

only on BRN can a question like this turn into a completely of topic pissing match.

And ya, Dyno runs do raise the rear of the bike. Because the front IS STRAPPED DOWN. hold the front brake and roll on the gas and You can get your bike to do the same.

Bikes Squat on acceleration.

Any questions?

Exactly. If the front cant move, of course the rear will rise trying to push the front. Now if the front is free, the rear should squat. Why do you think you wheelie if you take off to hard. It wouldn't happen if the rear was rising. Like I said, anytime you want to teat my theory, come watch some drag racing. When I put over 160rwhp to the ground, the back of my bike squats as much as 2+ in. Hell, don't believe me, ask tish what hapened to her plastics right after she had them painted. He bike squatted every time she shifted so hard it busted the bottom of her farings her first day out on the bike

But then again pimpit doesnt know shit, so its cool. Not like I have been riding for decades, or drag racing for years or anything. And working on bikes doesn't add any wisdom to my argument either.

Usually weight transfer creates a net squat effect, but I think the dyno demonstrates there are also forces that try to drive the rear wheel underneath the bike (http://www.sportrider.com/tech/146_0...try/index.html).

Anyways, I'm not arguing with anybody, I just think it's an interesting discussion. As for brake pads, I use OEM pads on the rear of my bikes.

Good job on knowing great information... But you screwed up by saying decades of riding.... Riding what? You were still pretty fresh when I met you... racing for years, ok, 2, good job, but your use of words make it an over exageration.

No, this is not a mix up. It is several people, including yourself, that have some knowledge and read a little and formed opinions that are not easy to sway.... otherwise known as BRN.....

HH All the way!

Actuay I started riding dirt in 88, and street in 99. I got into the sportbike scene in 06, and started racing bikes in 07 (street races) and started racing @FB in 09. So I think I worded it right. But thanks for the compliment on the rest though. I think I am about to go into shock. I've had a atleast a handful of people on Brn agree with me in the past week in various threads. Hell must have frozen over lol.

I like talking about bikes, which would imply a discussion. I think certain people just can't handle people not agreeing with them. People seem to have the idea that join date correlates with wisdom and knowledge.

and no, my opinion of, "you should use your front brake to trail brake" won't be swayed. When talking about corner entry or coming into a corner to fast you should use the front brake to trail brake. If you disagree that's cool, I'll just continue to do it the way that makes the most sense to me.

I don't really care about all the rear brake talk because like I said, I don't really use my rear brake during "fun" riding.

I guess the point is to develope the style that works best for you. I wouldn't take to heart too much of what you read here, now one knows how well the person giving advise rides (or crashes). Buy some good books, I have a shelf full of them. Then take a sport riding class, Yamahahaha puts on a great one at Miller for around 3 grand. It's a lot of csh but i can tell you worth every penny. It's things that you can use in every day street riding or track days. Good stuff. Sport Riding Tech by Nick Ienatsch is a down to earth easy to understand book.(unlike Kieth Codes)
Good luck, buy good parts for your bike, just don't eat for a day to come up with the extra cash

So, if reading books makes you a better rider? Does that mean guitar hero can get you on mtv?

Info from all sources is good. It's how you filter the info and put it to use.

And I still say use good brake pads.

what this means is, the bike does not squat or raise under acceleration, it jumps the phuk sideways and says "move bitch, git owt da way, get owt da way bitch, git owt da way...."

Ok, the bike goes forward....

I don't know a whole lot about brake pads. Is "HH" offered by different manufactures and is a brake pad model?

according to (cough cough) other people, NOT naming names..... You don't need rear brakes.. spend the extra cash you save on those cheap ass pads and get your muffler bearings replaced...

Harley rider. Nuff said. I don't use my front brakes in the corners,I want my front tire firmly in contact with the pavement and not trying to split the traction. I use oem brakes decent price and great life can't beat that.

The more you arc in to the turn, the more you ease of the brakes. By the time you're at full lean for that corner you should be completely off the brake.

That was a general statement. Just because you're trail braking doesn't mean you automatically have to worry about a loss of traction.

Brake pads: organic = less initial bite, less brake dust. Sintered metal = oem style with metal wire bits embedded in the pads. Great initial bite, sometimes too much if you don't have good hand control.

I prefer oem or ebc HH sintered pads (both are very similar). I prefer lots of initial bite, and don't mind cleaning the dust off the wheels.

Incidentally, you can use wd40 to clean your wheels and it leaves a thin coating on them so the brake dust cleans off easy next time. This also helps them stay shiny... An old show trick that is actually functional!
