I cut my exhaust in half; SWEET!!

My Muzzy can developed a crack in it and I was bored one evening......
So my 18" Carbon fiber exhaust can is now 9" long and sounds freakin SWEET!!

Took an hour and a half. Price was free. I like it.

Re: I cut my exhaust in half; SWEET!!

Other than looks and not buying a new pipe is there an advantage to doing that? I know with cars if you modify the exaust too much you can screw up the back pressure if you dont do it right.

Very nice looking and sounding! If you would have cut it any shorter it would have ended up being a "Muzz" can.

No welding. My end caps are held in place by screws. Some pipes are rivited, some are screw'd. Stock pipes are almost alwase welded though.

Give it a shot, good luck!

Re: I cut my exhaust in half; SWEET!!

I did not notice any loss of performance. It already flowed really well before I cut it. So I dont see it being too much different.

Re: I cut my exhaust in half; SWEET!!

The Muzzy pipes you have, you will need repack them or they will heat up and crack. Just the carbon fiber ones will do this.

I still have the other half of the packing to use when this half blows out. Good call though. Other people might not think about that.

I have 2 of those pipes on my bike so I really don't want to screw them up. Cost to much. The told me that advice down at Carl's Cycle.

Picture got screw'd up

One of the guys asked about cutting a pipe and I had to put one of my old pics up.
The link for the sound clip is gone, but here is the pic I still have.

Kinda wish I still had the FZ1......
