2007 GSXR 750 transmission issue

I just bought my GSXR 750 and I just hit 500 miles on it. The strangest thing is happening. My gear display goes blank when I am in Neutral. Also the Neutral light is coming on when I am in first gear. The gears and shifting is working normally except one day she would not shift to first from Neutral. Took a min and then she finally went in. Has anyone seen this before?

Re: 2007 GSXR 750 transmission issue

Well it hasn't really been warm yet but it was the worst I have seen yesterday when I was riding it around the hospital at work. It was in the afternoon so it was what 60 yesterday.

Re: 2007 GSXR 750 transmission issue

Most bikes get fussy about going into neutral at one time or another. It could be an issue, but from your description it doesn't sound like anything I haven't observed on every other bike I've been on.

Re: 2007 GSXR 750 transmission issue

its classic new suzuki symptoms. once mine got broken in at about 10,000 miles i dont have a problem anymore. me, rhonda, kevin, seth, kenny, kenny, rusty and nikki im sure all have/had the same finicky/stubborn/biotch of a time with the tranny. changing to full synthetic after 2,500 miles helps some in that department as well as power and vibration but mostly it just needs broken in. SO GET OUT THERE AND RIDE

weird that you guys all had problems. I've never had mine give me an issue. Doesn't mean that it won't though.

So you don't think I should take it in for service on this issue?

OR if you feel the need to have someone look at it bring it by my place and I'll charge you $100.00 and tell you that it's nothing to worry about.

Re: 2007 GSXR 750 transmission issue

I've not had the problems that you are having. Mine would go in and out of showing that I was in 2nd gear when I was in first. I don't have the problem anymore. I think all bikes can be stubborn to get from 1st-neutral. I usually just rock it back and forth.

As for the lights and the gear indicator... as long as it is shifting fine with no noticeable problems or pulling (like the clutch is being feathered)... welcome to the world of Suzuki ownership

Re: 2007 GSXR 750 transmission issue

According to the owners manual, the gear indicator is suppose to be blank while you are in neutral (atleast on 08's). As everyone else is pointing out, it's normal to have some difficulty between neutral and first gear during the break in period. On my 05 750, that problem went away after 3000 miles or so, either rock your bike or push it forward a little bit and it will slip into gear.

Re: 2007 GSXR 750 transmission issue

dont waste your money by taking it in. wheb its being stubborn about going into gear i just ease the clutch out a bit till it goes in and the indicator reads right

Re: 2007 GSXR 750 transmission issue

Ya like nick1983 said, mine only did it when i was in higher RPMs in first gear. Itd show 1st then switch to second and back down to 1st. But only when it was cold out and at the begining of the ride. Now it doesnt do it at all. I wouldnt worry about it.
