it's not. the actual headlight assembly is different. i even tried to mod it myself, but it wasn't looking like it was gonna happen so i stopped before i couldn't go back to stock.

ok, i wasn't sure if the wiring harness is different or not. shouldn't matter what the config of the front of the bike if wires go same place. But like i said IDK.

Re: 07 zx6r dual headlight conversion.......

the wiring part is actually more simple than they make it in the mod instructions. it's just that the bulbs required have to be trimmed down-no problem-but when you get them in the headlight socket the deflectors have to be removed, but they are actually part of the casing. you would have to cut them out, but i can't get the casing apart to even begin to cut them out. this whole things is so frustrating.

Re: 07 zx6r dual headlight conversion.......

Just to clarify, are we talking about making both headlights come on at all times?

yea so both running lights are on and then both the high beam will come at. the way it is now is the standard one running light one high beam. it sucks for any time of night riding.

And it looks funny too! Espesially in the mirrors.

Re: 07 zx6r dual headlight conversion.......

This was very popular for the 03-05 R6. www.r6messagenet.com/forums has lots on info on doing it.
You have to put your headlights in the oven to soften the glue up, then it will come open. Then you change up the wiring some, use dual bulbs and on the R6 the high beam and low beam side were actually different on the inside so you had to make some changes there too.

Re: 07 zx6r dual headlight conversion.......

I've seen where they converted to HID. And to do that, they had to split the case open. They used a hair drier to heat the glue and a knife/screw driver. Make sure you do't get the plastic too hot or it will distort.

ok, I ripped the whole front of the bike apart to remove the headlight assembly(what a pita) The lenses are different and there are metal sheilds inside that are different on the two sides, I don't see any easy way to make them both the same since everything is molded together, What I did do was swap bulbs, put the lo blub on the hi side and the hi bulb on the low side and when they are both on they are close, so that's what I'm sticking with, gonna keep the hi beam switch on all the time, they are about the same brightness now but the hi side has a wider beam.

It is fairly easy to swap the bulbs from side to side, you have to trim a little off the inside of the plastic bulb socket and a little off 1 of the metal tabs.(took 5min for both with a dremmel)

Re: 07 zx6r dual headlight conversion.......

so I've finally discovered that the dual headlight conversion CANNOT be done on the 07 zx6r. It was a complete waste of time and 20 bucks. The headlight assembly is completely different and does not work the same as on the older models. so I guess I'll just have to stick with the 1 light until I figure something else out. If the weather was good for riding right now I would have been pissed that I missed 4 days. Oh well.

Re: 07 zx6r dual headlight conversion.......

Some guy on the other site said he adjusted his high beams to be the same leve as the lower beam would be and rund High beam all the time.
