I Ride: 2006 GSX-R 750

FI Light

My FI light popped on this morning.

I have a PCIII, slip on, and K&N filter are the only mods I have (06 GSX-R 750). Disconnected the PCIII and checked all connections, still on. Checked all connections and re-connected PCIII, still on.

I'm curious as to whether or not the slip on is affecting it- I've had the slip on since 2006 though and never had the light come on. Any suggestions? I've got til Thursday to figure this bitch out. Thursday was the next "available" day for Carl's. I know there's some sort of 02 sensor down there, I'm just a retard when it comes to working on bikes.

Thanks in advance!

maybe try a search at gixxer.com or gixxer planet.com those are a little bike specific.

I get that same error code on my gixxer some times, I usually just shut off the key and then turn it back on and it goes away. It was also doing it the other day when I was riding wheelies. I think the pump wasn't picking the oil up and that's why it was acting up the other day. Sorry not really much help.

Do you still have the O2 Sensor on your pipe or did you eliminate it with a plug in? If you still have it, it may have gone bad.

if you have an f1 light but it goes away after you cycle the key off an on then its your SET valve in the exhaust pipe, which i reccomend removing, out of adjustment.

if you get a flashing f1 light say after you come down from a wheelie hard then your pickup had a moment of oil starvation, not a big deal just stop and turn off the bike, restart and resume playing.

so basically dont take your bike to the stealership nick, just take matters into your own hands and save some money and get more intimate with your bike.

Yeah, putting it in dealer mode should tell you everything you need to know. Then just look up the code online and the solution. That's all Carl's is going to do.

Ok- 1st off, thanks to you guys for convincing me to check it out myself. I put it into dealer mode- super easy by the way- and it came up C00- which means nothings wrong. WTF?!?! So now I'm thinking I'm having the problem BikeJunky had and that Bailey outlined.

Hmm... super weird, slightly annoying. At least I'm getting "intimate" with my bike I'll keep you guys updated.

Ok, there is a mental image that I don't need. It was even scarier when it was Bailey saying it.
Good to hear that (according to the computer) there is nothing wrong.

Tinkered around a little more. Put it in dealer mode and initally saw the C00 message which meant nothing was wrong. Got excited but then remembered, shit, that light will still be on. Genious I am, I turned the bike on. There we go. Got C46- exhaust valve. Bingo- Bailey nailed it.

So... got to thinking what the best way to remedy it would be, so I took off the motor for the SET valve, and clipped the wire that triggered the error code from the ECU. Guy on Gixxer.com had pretty thorough pictures/explanation of the process. So... hooked everything back up and bam! No FI light.

I guess I should explain. On a scale from 1-10 in mechanical aptitude, I'd rank myself a modest 2.5 since I can change my oil and air filter. I'm pretty happy about the outcome.

Thanks again guys for the tips and ideas
