Looks great! Where are you planning on going? My first thought was "Do you think you are going to get lost on the Lowman loop??"
Planning a long trip?

We are leaving for yellowstone next week so figured the GPS would be a nice thing to have. Mainly wanted so I new the exact speed I was going and so that I new the distance to the next gas station. The other thing I like about it is that it will tell me the speed limit for the road I am on.

Do not rely on that GPS for the speed limit of the road you are on. A friend from Germany came to visit 2 weeks ago, we were driving down Chinden in his rental with his GPS, it showed the speed limit as 50, we were in the 35 near glenwood and chinden intersection heading east. I told him it was 35 and he argued that the GPS showed 50. Then came the party lights!

The setup looks great, I was just thinking about how I was going to mount my GPS and that looks like a great mount, thanks for posting it.

Hmmm thanks for the heads up on speed limit, it was really good about it on our ride to twin falls and nevada it would even change the speed limit with in 10 ft of the sign haven't had an issue.

If you are interested in them go to www.ram-mount.com I think with shipping this one was about $55 so not to bad. If you get one that goes in the steering head make sure that you don't use the rubber wedge that they give you (especially if you will be doing any sort of wheelie) I have read reviews on other forums, that the base can come loose and the GPS can fall. The fix for this is to just get a replacement bolt that is 10 to 11 in long and run it all the way to the bottom of the steering shaft, this is what I did and I would guarantee that the only way you are going to loose it is if you loop it.

I will be in boise tomorrow and this weekend if you want to take a look at it.

yep... that's the way to do it. i road with mine from seattle to laguna seca with no issues. nice to never have to worry about having a map or where exactly you were. we always knew, although that didn't really stop us from taking wrong turns on occasion. my gps doesn't have the audio features though. even so, i swore if i ever bought a car again it will always have a gps in it or i'd install one. both my cars have them now.

as far as motorcycle GPS's go. if anyone is looking i would highly recommend the Garmin ZUMO. i helped my father in law pick one out and install it on his harley. the thing is freaking awesome. mp3 player built in. bluetooth so you can make phone calls and actually have the phone in your pocket while you dial on the GPS. Low fuel warning. man.... i told myself if i ever get a new bike i'm going to go out and by a ZUMO immediately.
