I Ride: 2004 GSXR 750 | Need some help.
Looking to have the paint totally remove from my stock rims. Give them a polished aluminum look. Does anyone know how or who to contact to have this done? Thank you |

Lynn pwdercoating bead blasted several of mine prior to alteration. Several bodyshops can assist you as well. Parks Royal has done alot of work for me with great results.

Jak's stripping on Chinden is an alternative to media-blasting. You could also use aircraft stripper and DIY, although it's a messy job.

I agree on the aircraft stripper, but i would recommend taking your tires off as this stuff can change the color of the rubber and it won't come clean. With the aircraft stripper it is best to do it a couple of times. And then sand down to clean it off and end work up to a very fine sand paper then polish. have done it a couple of times and it looks good when done. A suggestion is to maybe have them clear coated once done. As aluminum scratches real easy, or put a good protectant on it. But one thing with clear coat is if it gets scratched deep you can't just go back and sand and polish like you can with bare aluminum. Just my |

Thank ya'll very much for the replies. I have heard of the aircraft cleaner. I have also heard it is some nasty stuff. Does it eat through rubber gloves? What do you think i could use to polish and protect it?

once you get them stripped and to the finish you like, Hub Cap Annies in Meridian clear coats wheels. You may give them a call to see how much they would charge you. I believe it is the same clear that they use on aircraft, if I'm remembering correctly.

| I used some long chemical-resistant gloves that I found at Home Depot, and they are still intact. They kind of look like the yellow ones that you clean toilets with, but they are black. Goggles are a good idea, too.
