I need more clarification here. The tach goes to 8k then drops to zero, but the bike is still running? If thats the case it's obviously something electrical. Maybe a bad tach wire or bad battery. Also, not sure if that bike has an in tank fuel strainer but if it does you'll want to replace it after sitting so long. Fuel filter too. If the strainer is clogged with dirty fuel it won't be able to let enough fuel through to idle. Fuel would only get through when it was reved or the choke was on.

My guess would be carburetor problems still, vacuum leak, fuel problems (clogged filter, old gas, etc...). That's all I got

If the carb is gunked up enough to be cleaned, chances are other fuel system components will need it too...

when you first turn the key on, does the tach jump all the way up and then come down to zero, then you start the bike?

no i start the bike it goes to 8 or 9 and then drops to zerro while bikes running push the choke off and it runs for a second then dies. we just pulled the plugs oone and two were good but 3 and 4 had alot of rust on the plug itself but not on the contact point.

It sounds like a bad contact somewhere, the tach is connected to the ECU thats why it jumps up then goes back down, so it seems to be not getting the signal from engine to ECU.

I Ride: F4i CBR600 | Prolly not reset, but if there is a bad connection, it wouldnt hurt to try. I had a similar issue with my light, looked fine connection wise, but light would not come on, pulled cable and reconnected and everything was fine. Had a loose connection in a 12 connector.

So what was with the Tach? Do you get any codes? Leave the kickstand down, in neutral, turn the bike on, any flashing lights? |

As for idling, you get it to start with the choke and continue to run, is it jetted properly for our elevation? With a choke, you should be able to slow put that in till it idles after it warms up, which don't take long. Check to make sure you dont have a pinched hose or anything under the fuel tank if you have moved that stuff around.

And it's definitely the blinker fluid. Or it might be the specs on the roto-gurter...

I Ride: F4i CBR600 | Well if ya want more ideas, answer the questions, lol. Does the rev go down with the throttle? If you rev it up and force the throttle back to position does the engine sync with the throttle or does that take forever to come down? If you let throttle go and it snaps back into position but rev is still up then you got a sticky slide to the carbs. |

have you ever set the idle on it? sounds to me that you need to bump your idle up. my r1 did the same thing when i put it back together.

Ok my says that if You've cleaned the carbs and the filters it sounds like there is a chance that the fuel lines themselves have gon bad. not allowing enough fuel to keep teh carbs full.
