I plan to upgrade at the end of this summer/year or early next year to a 636 and my concern was how is the quality of the bike for those who either own one or have knowledge of them? In other words do they fall apart or are they sturdy and last a good time if taken care of properly and not abused?

Bran tried to convince me to get an 05-06 zx-6r instead of my 07 and I wish I would have listened. They are really sweet bikes all around. The only problem I ever remember him mentioning that was "major" was blowing out his transmission 3 times - but Brandon doesn't ride "normal" in that sense |

Ahh I see, thanks for the info guys! Well I just got my 250 last month so I still have to pay it off, so I am hoping to by the end of this season have it up for sale and once it sells get a 636 from the all power sports dealer in NV. |

I joke all the time that I am not a Kawi guy, but I am most def a 636 guy They are great bikes, tons of power and torque for a 600 class! The only downside as mentioned before, is the trannys are crap! I haven't had mine go out but the shifting was super clunky when I first got it. I installed a factory pro shift star kit which helped tremendously, and is supposed to help save the tranny. Also keep in mind that I haven't had a full season to punish it yet, so I will report back at the end of this one |

How much did the pro shift star kit cost and was it difficult to install?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/EVO-S...Q5fAccessories As for the install, it requires pulling the clutch cover, clutch, etc... but pretty straight forward as long as you leave the power tools out of it... Yeah that's right... NEVER use a power drill to start a bolt that has side tension on it, DUH! haha Mine was a little more complicated and involved a helicoil ![]() Here's a link to my bike thread which has a few pics of the shift kit and the factory star compared to the factory pro: http://boiseriders.net/motorcycle-pi...w-636-a-3.html | |

I don't know about quality. I've always said I would never own a Kawi, but I have to say if I were to buy a 2009, I might actually get the ZX-6R. I don't know much about the 06 ZX-6R but I know the ZX-6R would be a much better street bike choice than an 06 R6 as far as power goes for most riders. |
