| Length of my can
Ok it is bugging me my can is way too long and I need to do something about it. Buying a new one is not an option right now, cant afford $300+. I would like to cut it down but my concern is the volume increase over what it is already right now is not something I would want. Any thoughts or suggestions? Is there a way to cut it down without making it obnoxiously loud? Or is my only option a new smaller can? Or I was thinking some how having the exhaust shortened a little to pull it in some. What I would really like to do is somehow have the exhaust completely shortened and having it kind of hidden under the bike if that is possible. On a side note does anyone have a good grinder that i can use to get rid of fiber glass resin? I have an air compressor so if it is air I can use it. I cut the can on my GSXR another one for Pimpit and one for chris. If you cut it down it will be loud. But it will look cool |

For resin use a heat gun or sand paper a grinder is going to be a bit too much. As for your can, if you shorten the muffler it is going to be louder depending upon how much you take off. As for an underbelly exhaust, it can be done but unless there is actually an after market muffler that does this for you it won't be very easy. If you go this route, I hope you will correct the air/fuel ratio too. |

I cut my old Micron down on the gixxer and it really wasn't a whole lot louder. I think I took 6 inches out and it wasn't obnoxious at all. Now, the new pipe I built is a different story...

How long is the stock can on a Triumph? I've been shopping around and found out that I can simply replace my scratched and scarred M4's w/ Yoshimura replacement sleeves. Bailey said to cut it down to 18", but I thought 18" is a fairly common length, which is how long mine are. I would think going shorter than that would cause a pretty loud bike.

Well its right at 19" as it sits. I like the look of it that short Bailey. How would you be able to test the volume of it?

Yeah, you might have to go take a listen to the one in the pic that Bailey posted...it's always best to hear things in person.

I would think a dremel with the small drum sander on it would work. Let me know when you are ready to do this, since you will have the fairing off to do it, you could bring it over and use my dremel. I have some cloth and glass if you want to try to re-repair it. | |
