I also can't see how anyone over 5'8" can ride this bike for more than a half hour. The seat/peg relationship is very uncomfortable for my 6' frame.

I Ride: 83 and 84 Honda Ascot's and 91 CBR600F2

Is the fisheye in just a few spots or all over? What are you painting it with? Has to be some kind of contaminant that is causing that.

I am 6 foot and have put in a few hours at a time on mine, but with the lower bars on yours and the BadAscot, that might cause a problem. Although on some of the longer rides I did on the original Ascot, I would flip the passenger pegs down and use them...

The bar position feels good, it's just the foot pegs are too high and neutral. It could really use a set of highway bars.
I ordered the proper relay today and should have the blinkers finally sorted by the end of the week.
I put the bike on the road this afternoon and it's a hoot above 3k, but it stumbles a bit below 3k and I find myself having to slip to the clutch to pull away from stop lights. I need to pull the carbs and make sure I have the larger jets/skinnier needle in the rear carb and check for clogged pilot jets. I'm pretty sure this thing is headed for eBay once I'm finished.

I think you are asking too much if you want it to be comfortable on the highway...

I have been following your questions on the Ascot forum. Sounds like you are on the right track with that.

NO, say it isn't so! Keep it as a tool around town bike. It fits into a niche that you didn't know existed. You are just getting the bugs sorted out of it.

I'm afraid so. I have a line on a lightly wrecked 04 FZ1 that I would much rather have as an around town/wife toter bike. The ascot is just too uncomfortable.

I don't really know what it's worth which is why I'm planning on putting it on ebay and letting the masses decide.
Installed the new relay today, I now have blinkers .
I know I've said it several time already, but this brake setup CONTINUES to impress me. None of my old bikes stopped as well as this thing. The combo of mighty-vac, speed-bleeder, and ATE brake fluid has worked wonders for lever feel and I love hearing the HH pad whine on such an old bike.

I am just guessing, but $2000+. Low miles if it is still 8kish will work in your favor. The non stock paint job may knock it a bit. The mods to it will be a plus/minus depending on the potential buyer.

I am seriously planning on doing the same brake mods on the BadAscot.

There is an Ascot on Bend Oregon's craiglist for $2500 with 13k on the clock. Nice clean bike.

As much as I hate to see you sell it, I appreciate the work that you have put in to it.

I'll keep my eyes open for a good deal for you. That one recently in Boise was not a good deal... Kind of makes a difference if you want to pick up one that needs some work. Motors are solid, cosmetics usually knock the price down more than anything.

They're hard to find, thats' for sure. My last step is pulling the centerstand for sandblasting and paint. It looks like a rusty turd hanging down there.

What helps to get the surface really clean is Dawn unscented dish soap. I learned this from an old body shop guy. The unscented is important as it doesn't have all the chemicals as in the other ones. Just a thought.

I'll give it a try. I paid $15 for the can of Dupont prep stuff which I believe is little more than overpriced brake cleaner.

I'm still tinkering with the little guy as time allows. I still haven't gotten to the bottom of the turn signal problem after two LED specific relays and the thing doesn't run well below 3k rpm, but idles fine and runs perfect above.

I had to remove the centerstand as it touches down at very modest lean angles.

Sweet! I traced all of the hot wires and found a worn/chewed jacket, blinkers now work! I also pulled the carbs and readjusted the floats, runs great.
It's now on ebay too:

My wife wants a Vespa :-(

It looks like you got a decent price for it. Are you sad to see a bike go that you did all that work on and had running and looking great?
