I Ride: Can I borrow yours?

I need some help, please

I was wondering if anyone can tell me what this is. It is on my 2000 Triumph TT600. If anyone knows what it is, could it be the reason that my bike starts sometimes and doesn't others? It just fell off when I pulled the plastics off.

the bottom of the rubber was hanging from the bottom of the bolt right above it. Looked like it was siliconed on at one point.

i was guessing it was some sort of sensor. I'll take some more detailed pics and post them in a few.

Hey I have the service manual on PDF if you ever need it just let me know. Found it on a website for free. It is the entire service manual that people pay $80 for.

Well Bailey you can be 100% sure. Looks like the end of the sensor is broken off. Sorry I cant figure out how to post a copy of the page.

Yep def. looks like an oil pressure sensor. I would think that it would have something to do with the bike not starting. Alot of bike/cars have a kill function if they loose pressure and buddy when that broke you lost pressure.

It doesn't appear to be the cause of "lost pressure" but just the device that does the reading of the pressure.

It's just a sensor not a regulator but could have something to do with intermittent starting.

Thats what I meant. If there is no reading then the bike thinks there is no pressure..Just a guess.

Sweet. Well thanks everyone. I will get a new sensor and see if that fixes it. If not, how easy is it to remove the gas tank so I can get to the rest of the wiring easier?

Easy unless you let ministock work on it

Trust me, I won't let ministock work on it. He's my best friend and all, but everything he touches breaks, lol. My truck even broke the first time he drove it and he didn't leave his driveway!!! lol

Well, I think I figured out the intermittent starting issue. If I bypass the starter solenoid, the bike starts every time. Does anyone know if these are interchangable from bike to bike or are they model specific? If it is the latter, does anyone know where I can pick one up for fairly cheap?

i take it the oil sensor wasnt the problem?
are you talking about the solenoid on the starter or the starter relay by the battery?
either way i think they will be model/year/brand specific

I don't think it was the sensor. Haven't got it fixed yet, but it still has the intermittent starting issue. I am talking about the solenoid BY the starter, it has a cable going to the starter. Thanks!

I feel really stupid. I found out what the problem is. My clutch switch "button" doesn't pop out all the way sometimes. I just have to touch it so it will pop out the rest of the way with the clutch pulled in. Fires up everytime I do that.

Sometimes the most annoying gremlins are the little ones like that. You never think to check something as simple as a small switch...good to hear that you found the issue!
