master link rivet tool

I'm replacing my sprockets and chain this weekend. Does anyone have a master link rivet tool?
I searched for information on the clip verse rivet links. Does anyone have an opinion?
Thanks for any help or opinions.

OK I'm a noob at this, I'm not sure what this means. I have a grinder and needle nose pliers to get the chain off. I just don't have the tool to connect the (new) chain ends together.

chain press, but you can get a regular master link and put on then you don't have to worry bout a chain press. Shaners is floating around the BRN family somewhere....

If you need a hand, will be happy to help. I may be free this evening after work, can do it all in my garage.

Several racers use the clip style. All you need is a piece of safety wire and a dab of silicone and you're good to go. Just to play devils advocate again, and it's much faster and cheaper than buying another tool.

Oh I know some use them. I know it's rare that anything would happen either. But if you have what is IMHO the better of the 2 choices, why down grade? Safety wiring & using Silicone to me, doesn't seem like a faster route. There's a reason they take those extra steps with a clip style. I doubt it's because it's better... to each his/her own though right?

You can do worse with the rivet style, too tight or too loose = bad times coming. The rivet link is only as good as the installer. Pros and Cons with each but I could install 3 clip style chains in the time it takes to do 1 rivet chain.

Damn it stubby, if how fast you install your chain is the most important thing then I'll let you use a clip... quit making this so hard! LOL I've installed 1 chain per bike, if I had to install 8 chains a year per bike, I would take your point into consideration. You'll never change my mind you damn clip user! I'll gladly spend more time and more money. Now if this wasn't on something that goes 160mph with 100whp+ going through the chain, I might not care as much. I just have a personal preference & the rivet style gives me peace of mind.

You are an excellent cork soaker! 110rwhp? BS!!! LMAO! You stick to your false sense of security riveted master link and leave us clip users alone!

There I changed it to 100whp+ for those that ride older honda's & not newer modded race bikes. I heart you WD.

Either will do the job for you just fine! Everyone happy now haha.

Wouldn't it be a blast to ride that thing! 138whp! EDR builds SS motors with 120whp+.

OK it's official I'm going with the clip. I don't have to worry about it coming off at 100 mph, if you've been on a ride with me you'll know what I'm talking about
Thanks for all the input

who needs a chain breaker. all you need is a grinder to remove the heads of the rivets and then you can pull the link apart. takes like 5 seconds.
