I Ride: Ducati 848

its a Long Shot.....

so just thought I would check here to see anyone might have a front and rear stand for a Ducati 848 that I could borrow for a day to get my new tires mounted. I just cant seem to justify $40 a tire for leaving them on the bike.

Eventually I will buy my own, but if I could get these shoes mounted without having to drop another $350 right now that would be real nice.

I know its a long shot, but I would appreciate any help you can offer.

Thanks

Batt

Why don't you just bring them over to Baileys and do them? He does them for $25 for the set.

Off the bike maybe. 25 could be per wheel on the bike but not both.

It's $25 for the set, you ride your bike over, take your wheels off there and he changes it. Not that hard.

848 needs a special rearstand for single-sided swingarms. If Bliz has one, he's well-equipped .

I Ride: on sidewalks if needed.

I think Batt's problem is the rear wheel on an 848 is a single sided swingarm, and I'm not sure if Bailey has the abilities, ie single sided rear stand, to take that wheel off. I could be mistaken but that's what I got from his post.

Although Batt, I'm sure with some redneck ingenuity Bailey could get it off, and he does charge a fair price compared to the other options around town.

So If I take my front and my rear off and take them to Bailey its 25.00... 20 for the mount and 5 for the balance. This is what I was JUST quoted maybe 2 weeks ago.
If I understand you right its the same price to drop off a bike as it is to bring him 2 wheels?
If I seem argumentative im not trying to be. Im trying to establish some sort of pricing thats somewhat consistant. I have heard a million different prices for Baileys services. The only one that I have gotten from Bailey himself is 10 a wheel....

I stated to take your wheels off there, not have him take them off. Does that make more sense? I don't recall which thread but Bailey said you can take the wheels off while he gets everything else ready.

As for the stand, I doubt he has that "one", but I am sure he can figure something out or it can come here and we can suspend it.

Better yet, I will stop trying to give ideas to help someone save a buck, lol.

sercure the front, remove the lower cowls and use a jack with a board across the rear of the engine. I would loosen the rear before you lift it so you dont have to torque it in the air.

unfortunately i dont have an ss stand but with a little ingenuity im sur we can finger something out Batt.
my prices are as followed
$10 to mount a single, unbalanced.
$15 to mount a single and balance.
$20 for a set(2), unbalanced.
$25 for a set(2) and balance.
cycle gear has free balancing if you wanna make another stop and save $5.
these prices are ON or OFF the bike, dont matter much to me.
use of my stands is free and i usually have the owner of the bike remove and install their wheels unless they need assistance, then i will lend a hand.

yes, I was hoping someone might possible have a single sided rear stand. Bailey sounds like a great deal if I can get my back tire off the bike. Thanks. Probably going to just order the Pit Bull stands. I will need them eventually anyway. Just sucks that after getting such a great deal on new tires I have to shell out a bunch more cash. I guess I could just suck it up and pay the $80 to have them changed out at the dealer, but like I said, I will eventually need some stands anyway.

Stands are practically a must-have accessory in my opinion. Sucks to spend the money, but you'll find all kinds of uses for them.

The thing with stands are at least their a one time purchase. After that they just keep paying for themselves in less hassle and peace of mind that bike is secure and won't tip over if it's bumped while being stored over the winter.

I've looked at the T-rex as well, not a bad stand for the money from what I can tell; but, every review I have read says the Pit Bull is better, stronger, more reliable, and easier to use. So, I will probably shell out the extra to buy them since I plan on having them along with the bike for many years to come.

Those are great prices for mounting and balancing tires although you didn't mention whether those rates are for tubeless only. What about bikes with spoke wheels and tubes?

I've a friend with V-Strom DL1000 up in Wilderness Ranch who needs new rear tire mounted and balance off the bike - how does he contact you by cell or landline?
