A BBQ on September 2nd?

EDIT: FINAL SCHEDULE
EVENT: Boise Riders BBQ & Get Together
TIME: 2:00 pm --- ? pm
ATMOSPHERE: Family Event (Bring the significant other and kids)
FOOD: Bring your own meat. Please see the thread for what everyone is bringing and volunteer for what you can.
PLACE: Municipal Park (see thread for a map)
* there is a wedding rehersal scheduled for the Municipal Park Shelter from noon to 4pm so we'll need to just grab a couple picnic tables.
* if anyone can bring camp chairs (for yourself and/or others, that would really help.

GRILLS:
Hozhead -> 1 Grill
Proeve -> 1 Grill
- (this should be enough but we won't turn down a third)

MEAT:
Everyone brings their own.
- If your meat requires a bun, please bring those as well.
- Buns can probably be coordinated with others to make it easier.

CHIPS:

Proeve - 2 or 3 bags of corn chips with HOT salsa
KTMracer - several bag of chips.

CORN ON THE COB:
I'll bring 14 full size ears and 12 half ears
- (should be enough based on current attendance)
- (if more people post up about coming, I'll bring more)
* This stuff is excellent when wrapped in foil and cooked on the grill.

BEVERAGES:
Can we get a couple people to bring some sodas and bottled water (generic is just fine)
Proeve - some Diet Pepsi
Perhaps IDGSXR1K can bring some as well as long as no one notices the expiration date.
Flashpoint - Soda
- Anyone else?

POTATO SALAD / MACARONI SALAD / PASTA SALAD
We'll (my wife really) will throw together some potato salad but there certainly won't be enough for everyone.
AlxandrtheGr8 will be bringing something (pasta salad likely) in this category - he'll get creative the day of.
Kwood the One - Pasta Salad of some kind.
Flashpoint - Potato Salad

CONDIMENTS
I'll bring:
- Ketchup
- Mustard (plain yellow)
- Onions
- Salt & Pepper
- Lemon Pepper
- Accent (MSG - mmmmm!)
- Butter (for Corn on the Cob)

COOLERS & ICE
Hozhead
Surfbum

ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES:
Bring your own or make arrangements with someone else to each bring a little something.
PLEASE NOTE: THERE WILL BE NO DRINKING AND RIDING OR DRINKING AND DRIVING
- Its reasonable (as dictated by law and the human body) to have one drink an hour and be okay. Anything beyond that is uncalled for though.
- For those who think I'm being unreasonable, you're welcome to not come. This is one thing I will not budge on because its not just your life effected; everyone else on the road is endangered and the rest of the riders also get a bad name.
- Having said that, if you catch a ride there and have someone to drive you home, have a few! but remember that we'll have kids there.

ORIGINAL MESSAGE:

Would anyone be interested in getting together for a BBQ on Saturday, September 2nd?

I'm thinking we could get together at one of the parks with a few people bringing grills (or pre-cooked KFC if they felt so inclined) and whatnot.
We could do a pot luck thing with everyone bringing their own meat for grilling but also brining some kind of side dish or dessert for everyone to share.

Thoughts or ideas?

EDIT: This isn't just for riders, I'd really like this to be a FAMILY EVENT. Bring the significant other and/or children. Its a great chance for us to do something that WON'T get us in trouble for neglecting our families!!

Re: A BBQ on September 2nd?

I'm up for it... Recommend Municipal Park in Boise... I can bring a grill, it's pretty big, but it's charcoal. Been planning on having a barbeque on that day anyway, and picked up some red snapper filets for the occasion.

I'd be down for a BBQ. This would be a good way to meet everybody too. I'm sure we all know of other riders from work or wherever we can invite.

Cool timming for me. Firebird street bike class races are sept1. I am going to that. Sept 2 is nice because I get up tight before the races. This is my first year racing for points.

I see absolutely no reason why that wouldn't work.

We could probably do a late lunch (say 2pm) so that we avoid a lot of the general picnic lunch growd and still give everyone a chance to loaf around during the first half of Saturday.

Woh now, there will be bikes!!

Just because we're brining family doesn't mean the bikes can't be there. I'll be loading up everything in the car and letting my wife drive that while I ride my bike to the event.

Re: A BBQ on September 2nd?

Now to plan out who is going to bring what. Here's my initial plan. If you can bring something, please post up and I'll update this list. If you think of something that isn't on the list, please post up and let us know.

GRILLS:
Hozhead -> 1 Grill
Proeve -> 1 Grill

I will be there (well, 99.9 % sure). Do we still need coolers? I got so many coolers that you can't swing a dead cat in my garage without hitting one...

Not sure what food stuff I am bringing yet but was thinking of doing up a big dutch oven of some of my Jambalaya (well actually it is Chef Paul Prudhomes recipe, but he is not the one that will be doing the cooking...).

Definately bring a cooler and ice - we're gonna need it. I think we're covered on Potato salad and things of that nature now but anything you want to bring is appreciated.

Re: A BBQ on September 2nd?

LOCATION AND SEATING INFORMATION:

I just found out that that the Municipal Park shelter is reserved from noon to 4pm on Saturday for a wedding reception (they are going to love us!!).

That means we'll just be grabbing some picnic tables and making our own little area. This should still work out well though and will surely be enough space for us.

If anyone has lawn chairs or camp chairs that they can bring, that would be sweet. I've got 2 spares and will be bringing them for whoever borrows them first.

I'll bring some fried chicken. Anybody bringing plates, forks, cups etc etc. Looks like I'll be caging it down there. My fiancee wasn't real hot on the passenger seat w/ a bucket of chicken in a backpack idea. She doesn't think seperate vehicles are the best idea either. Oh well.

Right there are two reasons why we keep Nick around!!

You know guys, it looks like this is going to turn out better than I originally expected. We should have a good turn out and it will be excellent to get to know everyone better. It would be nice if we could get some of the lurkers to join us but that's about the only thing that could make this better.
