Stop by for live music, a beer garden, food & more this Thursday (hence the name ) 5PM-8PM at High Desert Harley-Davidson/Buell in Meridian. While you are here you can sign up for your 2nd Annual Idaho Spud Run Rally Package...some would refer to this as a Twofer Thursday. |

So everyone can call me all the names you want but I have a question. While I love the idea of food, live music, motorcycles and meeting new people, but how can you advertise an actual "Beer Garden"?? I mean don't get me wrong I know were all of age and I'm not opposed to a nice cold brew, but that always comes AFTER the ride not in the middle of?? What kind of limts do you put in place to make sure that people excesses don't go above their riding ability?? I noticed this at the last SRY bike night, all of the "harley/cruiser" riders were congregated on one side of the parking lot and all of us "sportbikers" were mirrored on the other side. In looking around that night I noticed that not one sportbike rider with a beer but instead had bottles of water, but the majority of harley/cruiser riders had beers, and not just a beer but a full beer inside of 2-3 empty glasses underneath. Now I know I'm opening up a whole can of worms, talking about this but damn it, I'm tired of being looked at like a frickin hooligan by the police just because of the kind of bike I ride. But a guy on a Harley with no helmet crappy leather gloves and a vest, thats three sheets to the wind after a bike night, well he just made a poor decision, but we'll let him slide today?? And before anyone says that I'm just a pansy or uber religious or some crap I just want everyone to know, I don't care if you drink a fifth of whiskey and then try and ride wheelies down fairview so the cute girls in the other car will look at you. I'm just tired of every time I talk to my insurance agent he tells me how my bike is "dangerous" just because it was made in japan, and is capable of hellacious speed in a short amount of time, and "oh yeah that new bike your looking at well after looking into it were going to have to charge you some insane amount a month on that". |

ah scew it, I will jump on the band wagon as well! WTF is it about riding bar to bar as well? Can't enjoy something without getting all trashed first? I don't really care what they do since they are "adults", but as stated we get looked down upon yet lets tell someone to hit the beer garden before or during a ride. I'm off the soap box. |

I don't recall him saying anybody had to drink. What if I cage it over and my wife drives? I'd like to have a beer or ten and think it would be great if it was there. If you're old enough to get in the beer garden you're old enough to put the big boy pants on and make the decision to ride or not. If someone wants to drink they'll just go to the bar if they don't get it there. Lay off the guy. He's just trying to extend a friendly invite to his event. ***Please don't twist this into thinking I condone drinking and riding because I DO NOT! I do however condone adults making their own decisions though.*** |

Shane, Piss Off! We know it was a friendly invite, we just asked a simple question. People that drink, with or without big boy pants, and then decide to ride, not only put themselves in danger, but everyone that is around them. Don't play this off, oh DD's got it covered, because that's bs! Now, go bout your business and cage it there and drink if you want to, but I choose not to drink and ride! I'm sorry I forgot, this site is all about wearing your gear, but lets get blitzed and trash some !!K, the attitude is slowly going down........... remember, I only had one chip on my shoulder removed.

Now coming from the recently converted cruiser society I have to agree that most runs that I went on were poker runs which ended up being drinking poker runs. Thats why I just about altogether quit riding with that lot. I wont say names just initials BVR I used to go on their runs but they had a rash of accidents due to drinking and driving that is why I quit going with them. I also agree with shaner, they are adults who make adult decisions and must also suffer the adult incarcerations due to their actions. Now coming from the cruiser side I will tell you that sport bikers are looked on as komikazi crazy wreckless riders. Now that I have joined the dark side I know that it is not true. You guys have been some of the safest riders I have ever been with. I have not seen the craziness that the cruisers talk about. Ok off of my soap box, now which one of you crazy bastards is going to teach me to do wheelies. Is it official hasnt this thread been ?

For a good wheelie, pull really hard on the throttle and let off before you go over. Any questions?

I am with you guys, I would much rather drink after the ride then before or during. The consequences of going down on the streets suck, so I do my best to keep the survival odds in my favor. BUT, If we are talking about getting trashed and then seeing who can do the farthest wheelie on the 50 pitbike then it is GAME ON SUCKAS!!!! |

![]() Oh, and I won't have a beer and ride. I've done it before when I was young and dumb (Now I'm not so young but still plenty dumb ) and feel very fortunate not to have gotten hurt. We have too much to deal with while riding a motorcycle to take away any of our judgment or coordination. And so as not to thread jack, I won't be making it to this on Saturday
