I Ride: Broke, bored, and bike-less again :(

One BIG AZZ shin-dig....

Yup, I said shindig...shin/dig... errrr... shindeg?

ANY HOW -
I was thinking... (this may be the death of me) ... but we had a SUPER AWESOME turnout to LEGENDS .... not everyone could make it .... we will have smaller meets through out the year at various places, bike night.. smell taco... baileys backyard... yadda yadda.... but I think it would be cool if we could do a big barbecue // park thing late summer early fall??

I am gonna post up the thought now so everyone can check race schedules and all other schedules and see if there may be a good day august / sept / october?? and if we can get enough people on board to reserve a park .... what park would be good? - this would be family event - all welcome - cage or bike --- we would prob need commitments for some to bring grills and chip into food or $$ to buy food plates - etc ---

What do you guys think? I ask your thoughts - I have allowed 6 months or so to iron out the details and wade through the bullsh*t ....

SO throw some days / places / ideas out there - this may just require too much organization for our group so maybe just a meet and no eat at a park?

But I was impressed by the legends turn out and maybe this could be the final hoorah of official BRN get together's for the 2010 year??

Let the dram... I mean planning begin...

I have a very large park by my house that is a frisbee golf course. It would be awesome for a huge BBQ

We had a BBQ off Linder a couple of years ago.. and it was big enough and plenty of parking for everyone.. and a play ground close by for the little ones.

What about a float the river day.. and then BBQ.... any ideas on that as well.. or who has water crafts in the group WE DO!! Anyone else.. wanna plan a day on the lake with BBQ and fun..

how about a camping thing? Anderson Ranch, everyone with access to water toys brings them. hang out on the beach, have a ton of fun and bring the dirty bikes as well....

A second get together would be great. Tish said it was super fun and I wasn't able to make the last one cuz I was jumping off bridges in Arizona.

all great suggestions - however I think float the river day or a camping day would work better for smaller groups - like 10 people or so - thats just my 2cents - I was thinking "bigger group" easy place to park and mingle - etc...

Linder sounds good or the place in nampa - You guys should totally set up smaller meets for camping and water sports etc ... on different days I am thinking more along the lines of the legends thing JUST WAY BIGGER

I think a park with trees - would be good in the summer -

Couldnt for the life of me get a map to post in the thread but here is a link to the park/frisbee golf course. Everything thats green is part of the course. Its actually larger. This doesnt have to be "THE" shin digg but I do think that it should be one. Its a long riding season. Plenty of weekends.

It's a nice park it has toys for the kids(not shown on map) one or 2 bbq's (very small) and a not so pretty port a potty LOL. The only problem I see is no shade but you can always put up a few portable pop up awnings.
But you name the place, time, and day and we'll be there, we are always up for a get together

There is a gazebo but the pop up awnings would be a good idea. I can supply the BBQ. As far as restrooms, my house is very close and I have a scooter that could be used for trips back and forth.

Bill and I used to do the camping thing with 30 plus in our group! If there is more water crafts w/in the group this is alot of fun! We have tubes for the little ones, we have wakeboards, and a boat.. that holds 8 to 10 people at a time (wld need help w fuel as the boat alone hold 38 gallons) usually we go to CJ Strike where the water is a bit warmer.. and it pretty shallows in most areas. There is a resturant/bar close by w/ normal potties. We call ahead and reserve the area, there is a fee for this area.. the good part is that we pack people into this area and make it cheap for all. Another bonus is that we know the sheriff and he is pretty down to earth.. Which if anyone has been up to lucky peak and had any type of dealings with Police up there they are not always nice to deal with. My suggestion would be to make a date and plan for a weekend to Cj Strike.. for the Nampa/Kuna people the back way to Strike is about an hour in car.. 30 mins on bike.. LOL

I know when my kids were little this was always a nice area to go with the kids as it is shallow and not have to worry about the sudden drop off like Lucky Peak.. and those that don't camp could come up for the day w/ the fam for a BBQ..

I would enjoy the Nampa location. I play, or least pretend, frisbee golf so I wouldn't mind throwing a few discs. And we usually have things in the Boise area and make the Nampa people come to us. Maybe we should go to them once.

I'm not one to enjoy camping but I think I could manage to enjoy myself for a weekend with BRN if I really had to.

I did camp at the Big Nasty last year and had fun and plan on doing it again.

True and that is why I suggest one giant end of season get together at a park...... the other ones are good ideas that I am totally down for.. personally. but may not be everyone's cup of tea or maybe just too much commitment for some - a park BBQ is easy and come and go as you please...

BUT PLEASE POST UP YOUR OTHER IDEAS THROUGHOUT THE SEASON VERY VERY GOOD IDEAS KEEP EM COMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is actually quite a bit of shade. We would just set up near the treeline which actually suits our purpose much better. Where the trees are is more where the frisbee golf holes/goals are. With us setting up near the treeline we can park on the street where the homes havent been built. We could do slow drags and use the street for whatever because no one lives on it. Mainly we wouldnt be near my house to piss off my neighbors. lol.

This is sounding better and better. Id like to give it a trial run in near future to see what everyone thinks and see what we forgot. I could see this being a place to have numberous GTG as long as people dont get stupid and get us kicked out.
