I Ride: The Armageddon, Orange Crush

Its like a horse. Sometimes you get bucked off. Get back on and your confidence will return. Don't be a quitter.

I Ride: 2006 ST1300A-02'Falco

Maybe Suzie needs to give you a good swift kick .After my getoff on the Falco in 2010 my next set of tires had a wider set of chicken strips. Will work on that this year.Don't think that laying down the ST on the ice after Christmas has had any affect.Things will look different once the warm temps return.

I feel your pain on that one. I think and kind of crash if you get hurt it makes you think about how easy people are to break.

I would normally agree with this however I may have waited to long to get back on .... I finally got back on and it was a horrible mess.

It was like I never rode before in my life ... I was actually a worse rider after my road surfing experience than I have ever been and I was so tense my body hurt when I got off the damn thing....

not sure I will ever get any confidence back....

So I can see both sides --- I was surprised I struggled so much getting back on because I have crashed a lot of things.. and it has never slowed me down till this last one.

I Ride: CBR 954RR and what ever else I want

What the crap?

Sharf would be the last guy i would expect the "woe is me, I dont know if I want to ride anymore." person.

Your a RIDER.

Get back on a bike as soon as it warms a little and the roads are dry.

You will be ok, the desire will come back.

I Ride: 06 GSX-R1000, 01 Yammy V-Turd 650, and 1979 Honda CM 185 Twin Star putt putt project

When I got hit in 08, my therapist told me to get back on asap (he also rode). He said the longer I wait the worse it would be. In my accident, I did nothing wrong. I stopped at a stop sign and was struck from behind by another bike directly behind me (blind spot). Yet after the week and a half waiting on parts, I was a different rider. I went alot slower in corners (even though my get off was at a stop sign on a straight). I was tense in everything I did, and it took me a couple months to get back to enjoying the ride. Luckily my bike was my only form of transportation so it made me push myself to ride again. The longer you go without riding, the more you psych yourself out.

I understand what you mean about the taking longer to heal and not being able to afford being down, but that doesn't mean you have to give up your passion for the ride. It just means you need to slow down, and not be so daring. My bike has been parked since November. I thought you guys were crazy (and still do think this) for riding through the last couple months (not necessarily a bad crazy, just crazy). And since seeing all the get offs being posted, I remember why my bike is parked (it helps when I start to get the itch). I too can't afford anymore injuries than i am already dealing with.

As a fellow rider, I respect your decision whether to ride again or not, but as a friend I say you don't have to give it up, just slow down (not specifically talking about actual speed, but more about risk factor).

Hope you heal up fast, and if you do quit riding, I hope you still continue to be a part of our community

I'm sorry to hear that you feel this way. I understand what your saying though. I'm with Scott. No matter what you choose to do please continue to be part of this community.
As far as the riding goes, well I have been down a few times and broke a few bones, had a stitches a few time that sort of thing. You will be nervous. My suggestion is to think about it long and hard before you make your choice. As long as you do that and are completely comfortable with your choice either direction you go myself and the rest of the good people on this forum will be around to support that choice.

I will always remain a part of this community. I've made a lot of new friends here and met some great people. Besides, when I don't wreck on the way the monthly breakfast is good.

Jeff, I wish you a speedy recovery.

Clearly, the decision is yours, you'll figure out what will be best for you and Suzie. It's not about us and what we think. It's about what YOU WANT and whats right for you, that's most important.

If I see you on two wheels, or two feet - I'll be glad to see you!

I have been doing a lot of soul searching the past few days. Not much else to do when you're stuck on the couch. I am going to keep the Recliner (Victory). It will be a few months before I am able to ride again. Will have to get the knee and ankle rehabilitated. Them we will see how it goes.

Now maybe we can pass some more white pickups with 4wheelers in the back that turn out to be Owyhee Co. Sheriffs.

That was pretty funny. At least he didn't pull us over. Yeah I can't wait to actually be able to ride. It will probably be April or May before I can try and ride again. Gotta make sure my leg can hold up the bike at stop lights, etc.

Ya know, when you have an adventure bike outfitted with heated grips, seat, and vest..... you can ride in the middle of winter. Just sayin'.

If only I had better survived that last bunny attack, I'd be out there in the cold, riding all over.
