I Ride: 2006 ST1300A-02'Falco | New Bike ?
Am thinking of getting a new bike.Would have to sell both of my gently ridden like a grandma bikes to finance new bike. Dream bike Ducati Multi 1200, but with a 20k starting price not going to happen. BringMoreWampum not on the radar. Right now the Triumph 800XC- 14k- and the Tuono V4R with APRC-15k- lead the list.Triumph has no local dealer for warranty work and thay have had issues.Aprilia has a local but untried dealer. |

They want $3500 more than KBB and what they are selling for on the AF1 forum and craigslist. For 2k more I can get a four year newer bike with warranty,V4 motor and the APRC package.Besides that is a RSVR and not a Tuono.

I Ride: 2006 ST1300A-02'Falco | Need the bike to commute to work about 9 months a year. Most of my other riding is relegated to the weekends. When you look at what we have for blacktop riding within a 3-400 mile roundtrip day the pickings are slim.So what I am basically looking for is a lightweight, torque powered bike that can do dirt roads and still rail the blacktop.

| It's 10K of Love and Joy my friend. My bikes name is Katy May on her birth certificate, but in the heat of the moment, when we apex together, I call her GAD (GIGGLES ALL DAY!!!). Get that 690. Mine is going on 6 years old now, I still haven't modified her at all, no exhaust, no bags, no crash bars, absolutely NOTHING. It's simple Fun out of the box. The only thing I do is change the oil and feed her a rear tire every summer.

![]() You just described the 690. 51 MPG is what I regularly get, I'm pretty sure that there isn't a more fun commuter bike. If you can ride this bike from A to B without 1) Sliding the rear into corners 2) Sliding the Rear out of corners 3) Pulling Wheelies out of corners 4) Riding on the stairs 5) Riding on the sidewalk 6) Roosting through someones well-manicured lawn . . . . . then my hat is off to you. I don't have that much self control. Ask Andrew how much fun that bike is, and whether or not it is dirt capable (knobbies, who needs 'em). | |
