I Ride: Ktm 620 Dual-sport

Dual Sport to Horseshoe Bend

Anyone interested in doing a dual-sport ride in the open country north of Eagle up to Emmett, over to Horseshoe Bend and looping back? Its scenic foothill terrain up to the Payette river and then over to Horseshoe Bend. Monday is supposed to be a high of 90 and I’d like to ride after work but this could be for next weekend as well or maybe even Tuesday depending on interest. Starting at my place in Hidden Springs, ride west out Dry Creek rd. to Beacon Light, W to Eagle rd. turning into Willow Cr. Rd., N to Emmett and pick up Greenbrier rd. (along the canal), N to Old Emmett rd. and E to Horseshoe Bend. We can stop for a burger or pizza and a cold one at Kit’s Riverside restaurant if we have time. Return via Old Hwy. 55 (Summit Ridge rd.) to Pearl rd. and back to Willow Cr. Rd.-Eagle rd. and backtrack from there. I figure it’s about 85 miles, paved and gravel/dirt. I may ride 2-up and if we don’t start too late or if we do this on the weekend, we can stop and eat. Let’s do it!

I Ride: In the dirt

I might be interested in Tomorrow night, with the temps dropping. How fast are you going on those roads? Reason I ask is I just replaced that little 44T sprocket with a 52 tooth and it is really buzzing at 60 mph in 5th gear. But it is much more trail suited now!

Thought of you yesterday. Put my bike in the back of the truck and took the family swimming at Grimes creek and I went riding. I went up Pine Creek road (across that little bridge you were looking at last ride), and man that was a fun trail. Climb climb and climb and the views were beautiful. I didn't go all the way cause I ran out of time so we should check it out some time.

I heard there was some fire up that way closer to hwy. 21 last week. Good to hear access was not a problem for you. We'll have to loop Pine Creek rd. back to where it comes in behind Bogus sometime soon.

Sounds like you'll be blasting out of corners with that new sprocket! It does get your engine singing at high speed, I know. The route I'm looking at will keep us off Hwy. 55 so no high-speed stuff. But the bigger or more road-oriented bikes can opt to take hwy. 55 straight back from Horseshoe Bend. Otherwise, easy-going.

What time are you available weekdays? I'm good to go anytime after 4.

88 is good. If we decide to ride tomorrow, perhaps we could meet along Eagle rd. since you are in Meridian & no need for you to travel out my way. Call me anytime tomorrow afternoon & we'll plan it. I'm flexible as well to accommodate anyone else who wants to ride.

I'm interested. Is this set for Monday (today) or? What time and where to meet? My schedule is quite flexible so just about anytime/day is good and I have not been out that way on dirt roads.

Hey Bassa,

Yeah, so far the two of us are planning it and meeting time still not set but sometime around 430-6. Looking to meet just north of downtown Eagle at the Church of Latter Day Saints which is on the east side of Eagle rd. 1/2 mile north of Floating Feather rd.
Glad you're up for it & keep me posted.

I think I can find the LDS church just fine. Anytime between 4:30 to 6:00 is good for me. Just to make sure are we talking about today? LOL
