Tubes in tires

Developed a slow leak in my Avon Storm 180/55 R17 rear wheel that only has a couple of 1000 miles on it. Didn't want to plug it, so wound up sticking a tube in it.

My question is have any of you riders had any experience with tubes in tires? Any thing I should watch for? Thanks -

I don't have any experience with tubes but plugs yes. I run 40 psi in my rear all the time and when I plugged up my tire and had hour long drift sessions, tire was perfect! So I don't know how hard you will ride it, but with my sliding around on the sides of my tires all day long with no issues, I think you should have no issues.

I was against plugs for a long time on tires, only on the bike. I was the guy that said I should get a new tire, but have had several plugs now, and as long as its not on the sidewall, no biggy.

I have not had exp with tubes in tubeless tires, but i would think, similar to dirt bikes with tubes that a tube could slip on heavy load spin..... maybe I am over thinking it, but thats what comes to mind. I have seen other posts on forums and its actually a pretty big arguement back and forth of using a tube vs plugging..

The opinions in my post are strictly my opinion, and in no way expected to be taken used in the reality of anothers life...

Tubes Work for a quick fix Harleys run them all the time. Some even from the factory. If it is high quality tube you should not have a problem. If your going to run a plug long term make sure it is an internal plug. External are best used for short time fixes.

Thanks Guys!

I feel a lot more comfortable with my decision. No worries, whitedevil, I won't be doing any burn outs or drifting on my FJR.

That makes me feel better! So you will be at the next bike night, right?
