Personal preferences for short loop rides aside, the question is: Can you to a 400 mile ride without feeling like a pinata afterwards? I used to think so, but now that I have an ACTUAL comfortable bike, I realise that I was delusional to consider any of my previous sport bikes as "comfortable".

yep, i have done quite a few rides around 400 miles in one day. My farthest this year was 432 miles on the CBR600RR. Only thing that got sore at all was my throttle wrist between Baker City and Ontario. My buddy rode his BMW 1200 and was sore.(he is a year older then me so maybe age had to do with it ) Hell i rode to a bbq that night in Star after we got back.

Sounds like you and Mr Garrison might have similar ideas about ergonomics! |

My point was that we are all willing to tolerate some pretty uncomfortable bikes in the name of performance. (And if you disagree with me, you must like anal sex) ![]() I agree with you Scott, cruisers aren't always as comfortable and they advertise. My buddy has a Deuce, and after an hour, I would rather be on a sport bike also. |

My aprilia is the most uncomfortable bike I have ever been on. But it's worth it not just by performance but the look of it and the experience of riding it. I rode my old 97 gsxr600 to San Diego and back in ten days. It wasn't terrible.

I used to own that very Aprilia, and I found it to be much more tolerable than my 916 or 748 Ducatis. The Mille' is better for riders over 6ft, but nonetheless another great example of tolerating a bike for performance. Definately not a 400 mile/day bike!

I Ride: 2000.5 aprilia rsvr mille | I'm 5'7" on a good day. I have never really been on a Ducati for any long period of time but they feel about the same as my bike. Must be a Guido Italian thing haha

This is why I love my FZ6, it's like the Swiss Army Knife of motorcycles because it's not one dimensional, plus it didn't break the bank to purchase a new one at $7,000 OTD. It can do 0-60 in about 3.5 seconds, 1/4 mile in the high 11's or low 12's, with 100 hp it has plenty of top end and it can carve the canyons just as well as any 600. It's also a great commuter and a great long distance touring bike, as I have done many 600-900 day rides or 4-6000 miles in 7-10 days. Very economical, takes regular gas and has a large fuel capacity with over 5 gallons so I can really stretch my fuel stops to almost 300 miles on the highway, or over 200 in the city. With almost 83,000 miles, it's still running great. But I did experience one major service problem. |

Since you don't seem to have riding kevlars, I wouldn't suggest knee drags. You might not have a patella afterwards.
