Knee dragging should be done on track days no need to push it that hard in the street. GSXR 1000 simple twist the grip in the fisrt two gears should produce a wheelie.
A good riding tool is Keith Code's twist of the wrist video and reading material.

Get your hands on a copy of, "Twist of the Wrist 2". It's the cornering bible.

Can't help you with wheelies.

REAR BRAKE!!! cover your rear brake if your doing wheelies and start of small, if you get to high tap your brake to bring it down.

Googster, are you fairly new at riding motorcycles? I ask this because just a thread or two ago, you were trying to increase the horsepower of one of the most powerful motorcycles on the world market. GSXR thousands wheelie by themselves. That bike in the hands of a beginner, has a very predictable outcome.

I'm hopeful you recognize the disconnect.

I Ride: to stay sane in this zoo!!

Watch the dvd's, read the books, look at youtube.....whatever floats your boat. But if you wanna get REAL GOOD on your bike, then seat time, seat time, seat time!!! Then invest in a trackday that offers instruction on proper technique. No dvd or youtube video can teach you as much as doing it for real!!

No way that bike is going to do anything in a small stunt area lol!! Well maybe, but I don't know of anyone good enough around here to do it .

Googster , just wait until people are going out to SC and take it out there to practice. Id be happy to give you a few pointers, as I'm very familiar with that bike! You may want to bring an extra motor if you plan on doing a wheelie for a mile or more, though... Muahahaha

And don't forget insurance coverage too. Comprehensive, liability, life insurance, health insurance, long term disability, AFLAC, gap coverage are all good ideas!

I have to agree with the small space thing. My GSXR1k doesn't like to do anything in a small space
Don't know about the 07/08 but 06 didn't do to bad though. I watched Batten run atleast a mile coming out of IC one day

Video or book? I would love a copy of either/both if I could find it.

The GSXR 1k doesn't need any help standing up, and actually tends to surprise you occasionally when it decides to pop up a little unexpectedly. Definitely not a beginner bike.

Get the books, get the DVD's, go out & apply the techniques, make your whole ride about just that. Pay close attention. Focus on one thing, do it over and over. Then focus on another doing it over and over, start combining techniques. Then if you think you want more do a class at MMP. Then do a track day or 2 or 200.

DON'T, just go out and ride, ride, ride for years to get seat time, then start reading the books and watching the DVD's & taking a class. WHY? Because you'll spend all your time unlearning the bad habits that you've been practicing all those years. Start with studying how to ride correctly, even if it's your first day riding, then go practice the correct way.

Nicely put, Ryan. I only wish I had learned that way It's definitely the best, most effecient, and safest way to learn.

Wheelies are simple here's what you do:

1. first gear
2. chop throttle
3. pounce on throttle like you haven't been laid in a year
4. Piss thy self

Dragging knee is equally as simple:
1. pick a gear, any gear
2. Enter corner
3. Tip bike over on to either side while you're still on it
4. Shit thy self

Enjoy

You gotta appreciate even the sarcastic input because it really does come from good intention. Understand that those among us with a few more decades worth of riding experience have seen firsthand what happens to new riders who worry about going fast before they've learned to turn or stop. Its not pretty, and no one likes a funeral. Think of it this way: It's as if you are learning to fly in an F-16, and trying to upgrade to an F-22 after a week of making "whooshing sounds" in the cockpit. Also keep in mind that we hurt the ones we love. .
You have a motorcycle, and you signed up for our brand of helpful abuse, so consider yourself part of the gang and take all the ribbing with a grain of salt and a suit of armor.

And thank you for you service to our country.

Yes. Because you ride a sport bike. If you don't want to go fast, why put up with being so uncomfortable every ride?

Ok am i the only one who thinks sportsbikes are comfy? I love my Gsxr, its super comfy. My CBR is a little more aggresive but still comfy in my book...As far as uncomfy goes my wifes 250 Ninja with the more upright position sucks in my book.
