I Ride: on youtube | Tiger week one reveiw
I took ownership of a 2013 tiger explorer a week ago. logged over seven hundred and fidy miles and over shot the 600 mile break in service a scosh. I can report no runs, no drips and no spills with only 3 freak outs. One of those belongs to James. lol ![]() Rode a couple cool early mornings 38f with no problems staying warm, very surprised. Hopefully I can ride up to and thru Thanksgiving. Longest ride was 350 miles to soldier mountain, gooding/wendell, billingsley creek, hagerman, bruneau, grand veiw. my Hands and wrist got tired constantly changing motor rpm per break in procedure. I averaged 48 mpg. on this trip. We bucked ferocious head winds, side winds and some how never got the tail wind although at one point when cruising at 75mph i looked down at my trip meter and i was getting 63.4 mph. I've heard some people get a little monkey butt after riding a long distance. I was getting something more akin to baboon ass so I raised the seat to the highest setting and things feel a little better. I'll experiment with the handle bar positions in the weeks to come. No Mechanical problems to report other than my left mirror was loosening during my riding sessions. As of the last time I tightened its not moved. Having some issues in the corners with throttle control. I contribute some of this to the torqie nature of the Tiger. I made improvement and feel confident I'll get it. I noticed if i shut down in the corner completely and roll back on thats when the tiger wants to stand up and bolt like a wild mustang and i have to cowboy up. As a first motorcycle im pleased with it. I want to see a lot of country and think this Tiger will get me there. Last edited by shankopotomuss; 10-15-2012 at 04:06 PM. |

Nice bike.Advriders has a lot of info on them http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=599070 That thread has over 14,000 replies.Chopping the throttle is a no no.Especially on a downhill section with a corner.Luckily you were on a triple and not a twin.Don't ask how I know.

More saddle time will get you use to the muscles that you weren't accustomed to using. You might want to consider a throttle lock for those long distance rides. I have a Throttlemeister on my bike which I failed to point out on our last meeting. BMW makes some nice seat cushions that go ontop of your seat. Get some heated gear and ride in the winter. |
