What riding boots do BRners like

Ok time to get a pair of boots. But there are alot out there. Which ones are worth the money? I found a pair of puma boots. I wear puma tennis shoes because I have a narrow foot. And the aid for this boots says that the boots ran the narrow. But are they any good? Or should I just get a pair of Sidi, Alpine etc? Here is a link for pumas

Re: What riding boots do BRners like

I wear the Alpinestars SMX-4. Their very comfortable for me, but it's also the only pair of boots that I've owned, so I really have nothing to compare it to. http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com...X-4-Boots.aspx

I did try on a pair of Setup's, and a pair of Thenic Chicane's, and both had a bolt from the toe slider that stuck into the side of my foot.

Re: What riding boots do BRners like

Pumas look cool, but theres a lot of competition at $400. I like Sidis myself, but Daytona, Dainese, and Alpine Stars are all supposed to be top-shelf boots (I only have personal experience with Sidi).

You might consider buying from a place with a good reputation for exchanges/returns, like NewEnough.com. Footwear can be fiddly, and there's a good chance you might need a different size than your initial order.

Good luck, and post up your choice!

Great point about return policy. I am worried about sizing issues. I read about alpine they sound like they ran wide. But those Sidi are super nice and cheaper then the Pumas. It says big twin cares them. So I will try and get over there soon. to at least get a idea what size I need.

I know a LOT of people with the Alpinestars boots and some people love them and others would rather have something else.

I've got Gaerne Shockwave boots and have been very pleased with them but they're the only boots I've had so I can't make much of a comparison. I picked them up from NewEnough.com on closeout three seasons ago and they're still great after many track days and a lot of street riding.

they don't run wide. there are actually really tight (internal anckle gator like inside a snowboard boot). sizing is true. you just gotta kno euro sizes. i.e 42 = size 9 44 = size 10 etc.

they are a good boot. I have the smx plus'. boot they squeak to the point of annoyance and dont have as much flexability in the toe as i'd like. I want to get a pair of sidi's for my next boot.

■The creative new Alpinestars S-MX 4 Boot is a hybrid of high-performance racing technology coupled with every-day street riding functionality and practicality
■Highly durable with a natural range of motion, the S-MX 4 also features a wide fitting foot shape for maximum comfort
That is where I got that info from

thought you were looking into a race boot. my bad. with all the other toys you were putting onto ya bike i didn't figure you were gonna use as a commuter. usually commuter and stunt boots run wider because of the comfort levels. i.e. wearing nike shox. nobody ties the laces. its a comfort thing not a performance thing

please don't drop ya bike though it is sexy.
the puma boots you posted are a race boot hands down. don't spend $400 on a high performance boot if you don't plan on riding hard. you can get bike parts for that amount. a $200 boot will protect just as well, it just lacks in all the race technology built into the top end boot. i.e. the astars smx plus boot $279. good track boot with good features, but astars race boot forgot the name $399 has all top end components and other stuff not needed in a street boot.

Re: What riding boots do BRners like

If you are going to go to the track, I would suggest buying 1 pair of boots that work for both track and street. I have alpinestars, but next boots will be a pair of Sidi. I would also recommend going down to Cycle Gear as they carry a lot of boots. Try them on for sizes to see what works best for different brands, and what feels the best to you. Just remember that most boots are stiff until you break them in, so most aren't going to feel as comfortable compared to when you break them in.

My current boots are my NFSA Hawthornes because I'm a poor bastard that is lacking the funds to get the proper gear, foot wise anyway...
