Drunk rider

This evening on my way home from work I saw a rider go down. I work in boise but live in nampa and usually get off on garrity. Right around the area of the airport I saw a rather large man ( with no kind of PPE) trying to make a right hand turn into the area of the bus station. Something goes wrong and just as he transitions the curb...BAMM hes down. I am going rather fast and cannot immediately turn in. I proceed through the light and find a turn around point. I get back...hes still down...My mind goes into combat lifesaver mode (almost forgot my kickstand).. hes FREAKING DRUNK!!!! He is awake but not even trying to get up. I get his bike upright and on the kickstand. help him up...and dang near get a contact drunk..i told him to call a cab or friend or wait and let me go get my car...he says he is fine and hops on and weaves away...stright back to barbs bar.

I pray we dont hear/ read about this guy in the paper tommorrow. They will definately run with it if something happens. "alcohol was a factor"

Any of you that I have net or spoken with, if you need a ride home after having had a few too many...I will come get you...I just will talk a ton of shit all the way to your door

Be safe not like this

Re: Drunk rider

Shoulda jacked his keys parked his bike and took the keys not like he would call the . Could you see him giving a statement to the drunk about some guy that took his keys so he couldnt ride his bike I think the would be on ur side and save face for the rest of us riders. NEways hope he didnt kill himself or anyone else on his way back to the bar or home

Re: Drunk rider

Glad you went back from him when you saw him crash but, I'd still have a set of keys in my hand until the showed up after I called them. Drunk driving/riding isn't to be trifled with in my book.

Re: Drunk rider

I would have used the "this is your one and only get out of jail free card!" Taken keys and see how things went from there.

That was way awesome of you to do what you did! I am glad we have people like yourself! Thank you..

Re: Drunk rider

Nice work and thats great that you turned around.

I too though would have taken his keys. lol...I can just see my scrawny arce arguing with some big guy and playing keep-away with his keys.

Seriously! ANY brn members! If you are too tanked, which I think one drink on a bike is too much, PLEASE come stay at my apartment. I live a couple blocks from downtown and my living room floor has been occupied by drunk bikers more than once this summer.

not to mention the fact that by not calling the cops you could be charged by if he would have crashed and killed himself or some one else, assuming they could prove you did what you did, either way bikes and boos are a lethal combination. I never drink and ride that's why you never see my down town on the weekends on the bike. It's one of the hardest decisions to make as a person, when to take key's and when to call the I've strugaled with this a hundred times as a bartender, no fun but it is a liability issue for me.

Re: Drunk rider

If you want to help a drunken rider...........call the police. Even if it results in them going to jail, losing their job, being banned from society...whatever.........you wanna help a drunk....take away everthing that enables them to be a drunk!

Re: Drunk rider

Thanks all,

I really wrestled with calling the cops on him last night. But my "snitches get stiches" angel kept telling me to mind my business.

I offered help and rendered aid to a person in need, since he refused my help, im good with karma. But the fact that he went from the spot i picked his bike up and striaght into a bar, I was hoping the bartender would do the right thing later that night for him as well. Since they prob knew the guy better than i did.

I hope his night got better, mine got worse, I missed Knight Rider last night

That's what I struggle with too. 99% of the time I would never call the on anyone because I wouldn't want some one doing that to me and I've never had a good experience come from it. It's just that 1% of the time that it affects me or mine that is the exception.
