Re: Engine Ice Hi-Performance Coolant

Engine Ice is not acceptable at MMP - it is glycol based

Quote:
Radiator Fluid (MMP does NOT allow glycol based coolant, RFR/Pahrump "reccommends" glycol coolant replaced with Water Wetter or equivalent)

What is Engine Ice Hi-Performance Coolant ™, what makes it different?

Engine Ice Hi-Performance Coolant ™ utilizes a base fluid called Propylene Glycol. This base fluid has been proven to be relatively harmless to plants, animals and the environment, while being an excellent base fluid for an engine coolant. We take this non-toxic base, along with various inhibitors and dilute it with the most pure water possible, Deionized Water. How hazardous is regular antifreeze?

A scant two ounces of any ethylene glycol-type antifreeze can kill a small animal (dog), one teaspoon can be lethal to a cat, and two tablespoons can be hazardous to children resulting in painful internal/intestinal problems possibly leading to coma and even death. Ethylene glycol is also harmful to plant life.

HAHA

Watter Wetter will be just fine unless you have a blue 636, then you will just overheat.

I think you can just flush your system with distilled water to get all the glycol out and then fill with water wette or equivalent

You fill the cap 4 times per quart of distilled water or you can buy the premix. The concentrate is cheaper and will last forever. My 600 takes about 2 quarts of coolant.

Correct, although I also turn the engine over to empty out the pump so it only takes a gallon of distilled water to flush the system.

Re: Engine Ice Hi-Performance Coolant

Here's something important to note when considering the Water Wetter ratio:
Water Wetter is available in TWO FORMS: concentrate and non-concentrate.
- if you get the concentrate (much cheaper), you add a few cap-fulls to the cooling system once its been filled with water.
- if you get the non-concentrate, you fill the whole cooling system with the stuff.

Re: Engine Ice Hi-Performance Coolant

I'm glad this came up again. There are shops in Idaho that use engine ice for bikes they know are going to the track because they believe it's ok to use at MMP. Even after informing them of this they refused to listen so I'm assuming they will still be putting engine ice in track bikes.

I think I have a bottle and a half of water wetter if anyone wants to use some.
