suggestions: black shifter marks on white shoes

Well now, along with scrubs, I now have to wear white shoes. I forsee getting nitfy little marks from my shift lever on my left toe. What are some suggestions involving things I may have sitting around my house that may prevent or at least reduce the marks?

My thoughts thus far:

Wrap the sifter in masking tape. This will probably leace a mess in the shifter over time.
Wear my boots/other shoes and change once I get there. I do not have a locker so I will be forced to pack them around with me all day.

I have seen what almost looks like big wide rubber band that you put on the tip of your shoes. I would think those would be inexpensive. I have thought about getting them since I have to wear dress shoes to work.

Can't help with the apparatus that prevents black marks...but if you get them on your white shoes - use Crest toothpaste (with no water) to get the marks off. Rinse gently and air dry.

they also have a thing that slips over your shoe. that might last longer. cycle gear sells them.

I have to wear scrubs and white shoes also, I always just took a sock and cut it right across the arch. Slipped the toe section right over my shoe and rode happily ever after.

works for desert boots also. army wasnt fond of shifter marks

If you dont want to cut up socks, find a sweat band like the ones for your wrist/arms. They work good too.

That is great idea. I hadn't thought of that. Best part is that it won't cost me anyting since the dryer has ensured that I have several loner socks to choose from.

I still am miffed as to why you wear white shoes in the medical field. Seems to me you would want to wear clothing that resists/hides stains well.

Another thing on the sock part, is if you use the band part that goes around your calf/ankle it has elastic in it to hold better to your shoes. I used to always steal my sisters old sock and use them as they are smaller and tigher fit to the shoe.

Hey Shadow, had the same prob myself. Found a great solution you don't have to put on every ride and gives you the same traction on the shifter. I am sure you guys have this stuff laying around at work... we call it Vet Wrap, also known as co-flex. Just throw a little piece on the shifter and ride. Worked great on my shoes and only had to replace it every week or so. Just watch out for the bright green and pink, they bleed when wet.

I have a role of white laying around here somewhere. At the shop, we only have bright green. It seems kinda tacky to me though. Like it will pick up road grunge and stuff to smear all ofer the clean white shoes.

Eh, they are overly stingy with supplies anyway. I will give Tish's cut up sock idea a try. Hopefully I will get on out at the VA here soon where I will have a locker and I will just keep my white shoes there and wear my boots in.

Side note though, I rode in last week and scrubs are REALLY frickin cold!
