I suspect CMS1172 has learned his lesson about NOT asking for usefull feedback regarding motorcyle questions on a this "motorcycle" forum. ![]() And Lazy: YOU WIN! ( I can't possibly come up with a funnier comeback than you beating your chest about your riding abilities). |

You mean you can tell the difference between your OEM tire and R R s? Wow! Holy crappola! Whats next, Capt Obvious? Can you smell your own farts too? Will wonders ever cease?!? ![]() Next time you want to agree with me, just agree. It'll save you some frustration. |

I am running the Dunlop Qualifier right now. They seem to be pretty good. Haven't had a chance to take it out and get super low yet. I used to run PP and loved them. Guy i bought the bike back from had these qualifiers on them and said he liked them better.

For street I recommend PP's (2CT's are overrated), if you are a Pirelli fan, the Corsa 3's have very good reviews (a bit harder compound in the center and then for comparison purposes, I'd say PP sticky on the 2nd compound then 2CT sticky on the outside edge, I do like this tire better than the 2CT due to the 3 softer compounds that are higher up the side of the tire. The Pirelli's do have a different shape which makes turn in a bit slower than the PP or the 2CT, but on the track reviews state the Pirelli holds faster exit speeds. So give a little get a little.) I am not a commuter, so I would rather pay more for a tire and enjoy the rides I do take. So take this for what it's worth, spend some cash, buy a good tire! How did I miss this discussion again Seems like once every 3 months this thread pops up Don't have time to read all of these posts but Michelin Pilot Powers are the best tire ever made hands down! If I could put them on my F-150 I would... Oh and they make great flower planters (Right Don?) |

I read on another forum some bad reviews on the Dunlop Qualifiers. There were quite a few people that were low siding while running those tires.

Most of these guys that lowside and blame the tire haven't even set up suspenision, have chains too tight, and don't know what counter steering is. If those tires really sucked, then Keith Code wouldn't run them on his bikes for the California Superbike School. I personally don't care for the qualifiers but they are still good tires.

The compound goes up much higher than that picture shows. Google for the 2ct compound breakdown. I would look but am on an iphone at MMP, in a couple days when I get back I will look if I remember. If you want to see the compounds stop by, I have a set sitting in the garage.

From a michelin site... the softer compound goes up the side of the tire. The green band is the softer compound. Give Scott a call, but they aren't going to end the soft compound where your apex/acceleration band is at on the tire. Either way, believe what you want I have better things to do with my time. 2cts are great tires and they will last as long as PPs - it all depends upon what you are going to do with the bike. If you do track days, a great choice. If you are only going to street ride, a good choice but not needed as it won't do anything more for you unless you count the placebo effect. |

Ok I have a question the two are obviously designed for two different things. One should be better for mostly track use one is good for mostly road use which is which? I know I know I am just stirring up the hornets nest. |

the pilot road 2 is a sport touring tire that uses 2ct technology to create an amazing sport touring tire, that will be sticky for the canyons, and durable in the center for the straight commutes. great for most applications.

Ok, with everyones advice, ordered cheap tires front and rear (Shinko Raven 009), from Motorcycle superstore (actually hear good things about them, SRY swears by them) bought a tire mounting machine from Harbor Freight Tools, all for less than one 2ct. So now can help with tire mounting for anyone who needs the help, and balance for free at Cycle Gear. Only charge a 6 pack a tire, sound fair?

As far as using them just for the street, I agree, stick with the PP. If you do track days along with street go with the 2cts. Then again most people don't run the correct air pressure and/or setup suspension correctly so no tire will actually work as designed in those circumstances... couple that with incorrect BP, bad/incorrect throttle control and it only makes the situation worse. Which again generates more false information like, oh those tires get greasy, or they just give away without any notice, etc...
