I Ride: Use to be an 07 R6

Canadian rider went down today

Paul and I rode up to IC for lunch, on our way back we came around a corner at almost the same spot a man wrecked yestersay and there was a lady stopping traffic. We saw the helmet in the road so i jumped off and ran over since I'm CPR/first aid. I guess he had taken the corner and hit the dirt on the side of the road and was thrown into the river. His bike was upright in the river and he was further down the river. His friends were able to pull him onto the side and start CPR, paramedics continued CPR but he was most likely dead before he hit the water. I won't go into gruesome details but he was on a harley with no helmet. Paul and I waited around for about two hours till the bike and body were pulled out. The men are from canada, they wanted to do a memorial run next year so I offered to put up a cross soon. Folks please wear your helmets, It's one thing for someone to rag on you to wear it, it's another to see what your head looks like if you don't. A man won't be going home to his family and two kids today, seeing that kinda puts everything into perspective. There's enough crosses on the way to IC we don't need more. RIP Trevor Grant Richardson of edmonton, alberta

Damn, that really sucks. It really can't be preached enough to wear your gear. May he rest in peace.

Thoughts and Prayers to his family and loved ones, RIP.

Gear does not mean you will survive a crash, but it is one more thing that could help!

I 3rd that; gear, gear gear.
Being the victim of a crash or two I can say that most of the time you never expect something to happen. When it does it happens quick.

That corner is a scary one.. that is about 100 feet from where I wrecked last year. The bike yesterday I think the rider took the corner to hot and got in the gravel and went over.

I am here cause of my gear!! Otherwise I would not be able to tell you my name!!!

Thoughts and prayers to the family and friends... what a tough phone call home to his family!

I'm one of those that will not preach about wearing a helmet. Not because I don't believe we should but because I don't when I ride my cruiser. Don't ask me why. I have no logical reason why. It's just something I chose to do. After seeing this mans injuries that's changing. I'm not interested in leaving my loved ones just because I chose not to wear a helmet. It'll be my half helmet and I realize it's not the best of all my options but it's a compromise to those I'd leave behind.

Don't get my wrong I'm not preaching or telling you what to do or what to wear. I just know that after seeing what was left of this mans head a couple hundred bucks on a helmet is worth it when I get to go home to my family

I don't say this to come across as an ass or to belittle the man, but he got what was coming to him.

You have 1 thing that everything else on the road doesn't have with a motorcycle.....speed. Besides that, you are completely defenseless if ###t starts to fly. Give yourself a fighting chance and at the MINIMUM wear a helmet.

Its always sad to hear of or see someone pass away from not wearing a helmet, but on the flip side this is Darwin's theory is bloody, gruesome, full throttle action.

Wear it.

May he rest in peace and may god be with the family.

The children of the rider who died on the ATV last weekend, were at my home tonight. I was holding back tears for them. My little girls are the same age. Wear your gear always please, the children are the ones that really suffer, these kids will be growing up without a father in the home.

He got what was coming to him? I doubt his 12 year old daughter will see it that way. It was an accident, the same thing if you don't wear your seat belt and crash. Sorry while seeing his friends crying and pulling his bike out of the creek I did not once think he deserved to have his brains all over the rocks for not wearing his helmet

I would have to disagree with a rider got what they deserved! No rider deserves to die doing something that they are at peace with! I am sorry that the family/friends and on lookers had to see this person's brains laying on the rock! I remerber a year ago when Tiff(dirtgirl) came back and told me what she had scene when Matt went over the edge by the damn as you start up the hill by the park. I am sure that the seen never left her as she had to get back on her bike and ride home! Still to this day that scene was like yesterday.. This rider did have a helmet on and it came off in the fall over the edge. Again trying to explain to the kids what happened.. what a tough situation for someone. I know my kids did not take the news very well when Bailey had to come home and face them after I crashed. Shit happens and it happened..

Edit: I completely missed the part where he WAS wearing a helmet. Remember our foot in the mouth convo last night Trouble? I'll put my foot and mouth card down right now and bow out.

I didn't mean it like that, I could have worded that better.

What I am trying to say is that not wearing a helmet is simply inviting horrible things through the front door.

Its such a simple and basic concept, yet people for whatever reason, choose to simply not wear it. Theres no reason to NOT wear it, less wind, less noise, less bugs, and least of all - protection for your most vital body area.

This is so true.. but the ball cap and the sunglasses aren't as cool as a helmet. Oh yeah and the flip flops with the wife beater! to add to it as well.. with the cute little ding bat on the back of the bike with her mini skirt and heals on and BIG sunglasses on.. as they fly down the freeway at 65.

With the warmer weather, people might just say, its too hot to wear a helmet.
Trick, put the helmet and jacket over the A/C vent then when you ride, its nice and cool, most of the way.

I'm sure you do as she skips across the asphalt.. and the road rash takes months to heal! Not so cute for the rest of the summer, now is she?

We all r very aware, that you can get killed with or with out gear, its better to have it or not but if this sport was 100% safe what would be the fucking point in doing it. i know when im leaning hard into a corner that it is close to the edge and thats what makes it a sport. thats draws many people into it. i know that if i died in a motorcycle crash. my family would say at least he went out doing something he loved to do.

Or she can just go down.....on me!

Yesterday on way home, headed down eagle, little cutie in what looked like a cheerleader uniform on back, rider wearing his shades and a hanky over around his head. I was thinking to myself what a bunch of tards, but then again, I might not have slapped her on the arse as I passed if I couldn't see how cute she was because she had a brainbucket on. LMAO

Get the point, wear your damn gear, give yourself a fighting chance. I squid around the block in my subdivision, it is our choice to wear it or not, for now.

Canadian motorcyclist dies Tuesday from injuries in crash on Idaho 21
http://www.idahostatesman.com/newsup...ry/783065.html

Trevor Richardson, 48 of High Prairie, Canada, was driving north on Idaho 21 Tuesday afternoon when his Harley Davidson motorcycle went off the road at milepost 24.5. Emergency personnel were called to the scene at 2:44 p.m.

Richardson went off the road on a corner and landed in Mores Creek. He was not wearing a helmet.

The crash is still under investigation. Police say they do not believe speed was a factor in the crash.

Thank you

I am writing in reply to your May 26, 2009 posting regarding the man from Canada who died in motorcycle crash at milemarker 24.5 state hwy 21, Boise, Idaho. That man was my husband and it has been two and a half long years, since the life we loved with him was taken from myself and our kids. I should have done this sooner, but have not been emotionally ready, I would like to thank the people, who stopped and did everything possible for Trev and helped our friends Rick and Mark deal with this. I also send my gratitude to the person who made and placed the cross at the site of the accident. I have made the trip to Boise with our son and daughter, even though it was very hard to be there, we were very touched at the thoughfulness, it is nice to know that there are such caring people in this world. When we arrived the cross had been knocked down, accidentally by a vehicle I assume, we placed it on a tree and attached as best we could. Trev did leave us doing something he enjoyed, but first and foremost, he was a wonderful husband and father, who worked very hard to have a good life for us, he loved life and enjoyed riding when he had the opporunity Everyone is entitled to thier opinion regarding helmets, but we will never know if things would have turned out differently, had Trev been wearing one. Thank you again to everyone.

Treval, thank you so much for posting. Tydd and I were the ones who came upon this accident and there hasnt been one trip to idaho city where I dont think about that day. I am so sorry for your loss and I have no idea how your family is staying strong. After many funerals it never gets easier, paul and I met with trevors friends the last time they came to boise on the year anniversary and it was relieving to see them. Im sorry we missed your trip to idaho, I was the one who made the cross and even though it was knocked over its nice to hear its still survived up there. Thank you again for posting, im glad your family is doing ok.
