The 2009 Seattle 100 Needs Your Help
Ben Spies, Mat Mladin, Jake Zemke, Josh Hayes, Jake Holden, Danny Eslick, Jason DiSalvo, Jason Pridmore, . . . do those names ring a bell to you? Ever had the chance to not only meet them, but also ride with them on the track and enjoy an afternoon with them? Well if you have not, the 2009 Seattle100 is your chance to do that and raise funds for a worthy cause in the process. If you have participated in the Seattle 100 events in the past, then you know how much fun they are and what a unique opportunity it presents. We would like to ask those of you that have and have not attended previous Seattle 100 events to attend this year’s event on Saturday, July 25th and help us raise money for the Nephcure Foundation a 501c3 charitable organization. If you choose to do so, it will certainly be a day to remember.
Why the Seattle 100? Why the Nephcure Foundation? Why do we need your help? The Nephcure Foundation is the only organization in the world that is dedicated solely to the cure of the rare glomerular kidney disease which is estimated to effect 5 out of 100,000 children. Nephrotic Syndrome has no established cure and long term effects can cause Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) and result in daily dialysis or a kidney transplant. How would you like to be a child diagnosed with a rare kidney disease like this? Well that’s just what happened to 2Fast Co-founder Brian Orton’s son Christian about 10 years ago. Christian was diagnosed with Nephrotic Syndrome at the age of 10 months. Brian soon after learned that no organization or cure was established to help children with this devastating disease. As a result, he and another parent founded the Nephcure Foundation to raise money and begin research on the disease. Fast forward a decade later and Nephcure has grown in need for help as it reaches out to many more children. The Seattle 100 was designed to be one of many fundraisers established to raise money for the Nepchure Foundation and hence the reason we need your help! Last year we raised just over $120,000 for Nephcure and we’d like to beat that for 2009. However, with the challenges most of us are facing in the economy, we realize in order to reach this goal that we are going to need everyone’s help in the Northwest to make it.
Here is what we would appreciate your help with. Sign up for the 2009 Seattle 100 and raise funds from your family, co-workers, friends and corporate matching funds to help us reach our goal! The Seattle 100 is open to anyone who would like to ride, even if you've never been to a track day before. In fact, there is no admission fee to participate in the Seattle 100. Yes, it’s a free trackday for all – and includes catering, awards, one-on-one time with our special VIP guests, a celebrity exhibition event, our dinner banquet and auction, and so much more! However, 2Fast asks that each participant raise a required minimum of $500 in order to claim a spot in the S100, because spaces are limited and filling up quickly. The $500 minimum is really quite easy to raise from these sources and last year’s average donation per rider was nearly $1000. Most who rode in the event found it easy to find donors to support their fundraising efforts, had fun getting involved in the charitable purpose of the event, and some went beyond the call of duty by raising several thousand dollars rather than the minimum $500. Nephcure has setup an online portal where you don’t even need to physically collect the money – simply go through a quick process to setup a portal for yourself and then send your donors the link and they can donate to Nepchure in your name and you get credit for the donations to ride in the event! How much more simple can it be? And if for some reason you’d like to donate, but are unable to attend, we and Nephcure would really appreciate your support. You can donate online individually in this case if this is your situation.
Again the date for the 7th Annual Seattle 100 is on Saturday, July 25th at Pacific Raceways in Kent, WA. We really could use your help and every dollar counts towards our goal. So register today for the Seattle 100, support a worthy cause, and get ready for a very memorable day!
