My new project

Well guys I know that I will catch a lot of crap for this, but with these numbers waving in front of my face, I had a hard time saying no. works out that the payments are same, insurance is the same and the terms are the same with a 3 year newer bike. couldn't pass.

So here it is.

Only the name, Harley davidson is continuing the service on them. There is also a possibility that the name could continue on. I understand that there are interested parties looking at continuing production through the plant. With such a big backer, I won't have any trouble, they are bound by law to back anything they sell. It is the same with Saturn stopping the name, all GM dealers can still work on them and will honor the warranty.

Like the Buell, just have to do something about those gnarly scoops.

I like the scoops on the CR, now the way they did the R, I don't like. they finally released a full kit fairing kit to cover them, it looks really good.

Nice ride. Is it an 08 or 09?Make sure it has all the current flashes and there is still enough daylight today to get the breakin miles out of the way.Liked the one I demo rode.

The only crap you are going to catch from me is that this is not my idea of a "Project Bike". However, if you are going to do a bunch of mods to it, then yes, it is a "Project Bike".
Otherwise, Congrats!

So the "project" portion is to find an alternative to the scoops right? Other than the scoops, I definitely like the CR and am glad you were able to take advantage of the currently insane pricing!

Well the project portion is to make it more of an upright seated position, Bars, seat, lowered pegs. then longer brake lines. Anyone know how to bleed a hydrolic clutch?

Unfortunately my back can't handle that hunched over seating position. I know that this bike can be modified, to do what I want, so the choice was simple.

It's just like bleeding your brakes. The bleeder valve should be down on the side of the bike near the clutch cover somewhere.

From what I've read on the exhaust is that very few offer any HP gains and all are LOUD.Coming from a HD to my Jetsons sounding exhaust of the ST stealth is nice. The stock exhaust of the 1125 makes plenty of HP.The tips do blow right on the rear rim and some guys have cut the tips off and welded them back on at a 45 degree angle.

Nice bike for a HD. Bleeding the clutch is the same as your brakes. If you need a hand when you get to that let me know.

Chad, there is a guy on BuellXB named tank that made a great sounding exhaust. Kind of sounded like an XB. He has an appointment for the dyno to turn some numbers. I'll keep you updated as he returns those.

I have access to a shop where I can modify the can. just like I did with the old one. Just need a design. I don't have the money to experiment on it. Go through several cans that way.

Well if your a Buell guy, you might as well have the coolest one they make, right? I went to that Buell test ride a few months back and I rode all the different models. I made the mistake of riding the CR first so they seemed to just get crappier as I went down the line.

Anyway. Point is. I really liked the CR. It has those cool designs that are unique to Buell. The CR seemed to be the most like a sportbike. Power was good. Transmission felt the best out of the whole lineup and it looks the coolest.

Great score bro. Congrats

Thanks, but for me it was never about the coolness, I wanted something that could handle, and when I bought my old bike, Buell was top of the list, and it came with an upright position, at the time I looked at the SV1000, Monster, Speed Triple, FZ1 and the XB12Ss.

SV didn't have an upright enough position got back cramps when riding.
Monster was flat out expensive to maintain. Thats Ducati for you, plus the price.
Speed triple was just coming out, and felt really stubby to me, (no pun)
FZ1 was expensive for me to insure.
The Buell was easy to work on, Cheap parts, Really cheap to insure, plus comfortable to ride. That is what got me into the Buells.
This bike, I got really cheap and its really strong running. Handles awsome, and it is still really cheap to insure.
Have to add a few things to make it comfortable enough to ride for any amount of time.
Should see me on it right now, as big as I am, I look like a scrunched up ball on a bike.
My wife was behind me and said she could see my back spasm. Little work will take care of that.

some more, man lot of electronics under that seat, wonder what happens if you ride in the rain.
With me on that XB12R is what I looked like on my new bike the way it is.
Notice, I put those stupid skate board wheels on already. Wow they match the color on this one too.

Thought I saw enough of those lights, hopefully won't come close to top speed of 168.
