I'm pretty sure that i can figure out how to hook it up regardless of my post size. (I told that chestnut to my wife when we were dating, and it worked out then anyway)

It's cool and all, but why does it take a small town Boise person to create this...does it melt when overcharged, die after a year of use, voltage spikes causing wiring issues, etc? What is it about this battery that has kept larger manufacturers from making it? They must know something you don't. I'd love a smaller and lighter battery for the bike, so maybe I'm a "glass is half empty" kind of guy, so I'm wondering what the catch is.

Cool, I've never heard of them and didn't see that mentioned here in the thread. Why the roll of the eyes? I've got a twin, so if it's something I can use, shouldn't I ask questions?

On a bike that is like 450dry, then throwing my 230lb fatass into the mix...shedding weight wherever possible on is a plus, sounds good. Prices?

Thanks for not reacting like Charlie did. I am a skeptic, but since you're basically duplicating what a larger company has done on the cheap, then I'm in. I'd like to see the finished project when you get it done so I can see how I'm going to connect all the crap I have attached to my battery...rewired coils directly to battery for more direct power, HID's, cigarette lighter for charging the phone, etc. TL's are notorious for wiring issues, so I'm especially concerned about the safety factor of using a battery type I've never heard of before.

the only issues i have herd of is user error being charged at a low amp rate
ie 4 amps or less bad!! these require 5 amps and as much as 60amps to charge them ! and people using race stators that dont really charge till like 6k rpm as far as capacity of the battery i should be more than plenty for you bike the cells are DOD rated for high g load so impact issues are not a problem !

and if i remember correctly a 35 watt hid produces the same as a 70 watt halogen so hid is a non issue you actually helped you charging system load !

and that charging thing is just if you run it dead only!! normal charging systems on bikes are a ok for these

Yeah, I'm reading now about the benefit of the lithium ferrous vs ni-cad vs. li-ion batteries now. Also, the owner of the SpeedCell site rides an RC51, so that's positive to know it works well on V-twins.

Yeah, I used my volt meter and did before and after of my voltages

1) halogen on low, low and high combined, and high only
2) HID on low, and high only (couldn't do low/high at the same time)

There was easily a 1-1.5 volt drop using the 9003/H4 halogens, enough that when I did low/high together, the alternator couldn't keep up and the bike would slowly dwindle down on power and eventually could die. Using the HID's, other than startup, had practically no affect on voltage...I was quite surprised. Now I can run my fan switch and still have my headlights on w/o having to worry.

I would guess because this is the second thread he has on this very battery. In the first thread he say it is a speed cell like battery and goes on to give all the specs from speed cell.

I don't recall seeing the first thread, but he's since then made it clear what type of battery it is.

That is awesome loopy!!! I'd like to make one just for fun. Good work! I haven't heard of speedcell until now. After researching them, if I had a bike I'd likely give it a try. Can you make one for my mtn bike?

SPEED! You want SPEED??

I hit almost 53mph on my road bike once! Yeah... I know... that's real speed! LOL
I know you'll want proof of such high numbers so here you go.

http://connect.garmin.com/player/10542611

I'm gunning for 60mph this year. Haha

I dont need the proof....i used to road cycle all around this valley so I know there are some good places to build up some serious leg/gravity powered speed and put some real G's on them half inch wide rims/tires

Hey...so if we put one of these in my bike - will it take longer for me to kill it if I leave my grip warmers on again?

Still waiting for a price in the initial post. Told you at Legends I would be interested, I just need to see a price and get the money. I would love to shed some weight on my heavy arse bike.

I was curios to the price as well. Speedcells are like $160 for a 4 cell, and like $240 for a 6 cell if I remember correctly.

ummmm shouldnt your warmers be hooked up to a switched 12 volt source to prevent this? or was that someones master plan to get his batteries sold.

I don't know what the turnaround or buyers list is like, but I'd eventually like one in a few months, so put me on the list.

$120 for the 4 cell $150 for the 8 cell most people on the street would benefit from the 8 cell due to its larger capacity im currently running the 4 cell in my bike and love it as it sets depending on what people want right away i have another 8 cell or 3 4 cells waiting to be built and just so people know this is not a get rich plan just trying to bring something cool and beneficial to the group !! and when i need to order more cells its a week wait so its not long

i will be completely finished with duckkillers battery tonight i want these to be right ! if i wouldn't run it in my bike why should you right ?? pm me if interested

connections depend on what you the perspective buyer wants . most that i have encountered using standard terminals ,hook it to the starter solenoid like i did .and grounded to the engine or used the ground wire existing already in the batt box it just depends on what you want . all included in the price
