2008 rr questions

I met a guy today that laid down a cbr 1k with 1k miles. He's gonna buy it back so he may give someone a really good deal. He wanted to know if it matters that he doesn't have an endorsement if his claim will get declined? Anyone know how insurance looks at that? I'll keep ya posted how much he wants for it.. Its silver and red.I have pics but posting from my phone. Its pretty..

Interesting. I've wondered the same thing. I THINK insurance could likely fight paying for it since it would be like insuring a non-licenced driver.

I mean, he was breaking the law... IDK that an insurance company would, say, pay medical bills for someone that broke their leg robbing a bank. But hell who knows.
I've never had an endorsement & insurance has never asked if I do...

My insurance company asked me if I had my permit and then told me I had around 60 days to get the endorsment. They never told me if they would pay or not.

My insurance company never even asked if I had my endorsement. They just asked for info on the motorcycle. I'm insured with State Farm if that helps anyone.

State Farm has never asked me either (though I do have my endorsement). I would assume as long as he keeps his mouth shut they will probably never even think to ask. But if they do find out I would almost gaurantee they'll try to use that to not pay out. Remember, insurance companies will find ANY reason to not pay. He'd probably be able to find it on the grounds that they had insured him without the endorsement in the first place but it'll get drug out for a long time.

insurance doesn't have to pay shit if the operator of a vehicle doesn't have a license (or endorsment) to legally operate said vehicle involved in accident

I wouldn't be so sure about that, insurance is to protect the bank's or your investment. If your child goes out and takes your car for a joy ride without a license and crashes it do they not still pay? Breaking the law has nothing to do with it, you can go get in a crash drunk off your a$$ clearly breaking the law and they still pay.

You guys may want to check your facts about insurance. When I was 15 I was driving my brothers truck and hit a tree. Insurance wouldn't pay out because I did not have a license. They even showed him the clause in the policy that stated ONLY licensed drivers were to drive the vehicle and if any unlicensed driver was involved in a claim it would be automatic grounds for dismissal of the claim.

The insurance will pay out, the only loophole they'd try and not payout to would be if he was using the vehicle in the commision of a felony. So unless he robbed a bank and ran from the cops before crashing he'll be fine.
My stepmom got in a wreck a few years ago with no license an full coverage and because she was driving without a license my dad had to pay everything.

Insurance does not cover anyone that is driving without a license on public roadways (not sure about private property as it may be different.) It also does not cover anyone that lives in your household, that is not on your policy. (Had to deal with that one a year ago)

I am retracting my previous statement as this is a stupid thing to sit around and argue about. I will just wait and see what bran says happens with the bike.

I usually have a rule about getting into these grey area arguments but thought I'd throw my into it. But it won't happen again.

Everyone move along, nothing to see here.

I don't really see this as a stupid arguement. He asked a question and people have shared their experience with the situation. That's what a public forum is all about. Like I said in my first post, he may very well be just fine. There is also the chance that he won't. As you can see, different people have had different experiences with the same type of situation so it's really up in the air. I'll be interested to hear the outcome myself.

If he does buy it back from the insurance company and wants to sell I might be interested in it. I am a big fan of the 08+ CBR 1000's. Post up what you find out.
