I Ride: Multistrada 1100S, Buell 1125CR IBA# 38143

Just checking in

The wife and I are planning to move to Boise in a few months. We're currently in So Cal. She's originally from Boise and we visit her family frequently. Our jobs have given us the green light to move to Boise and work remotely but our lease isn't up until next spring.

I currently own a Ducati Multistrada 1100S and a Buell 1125CR (seems to be a lot of Buells around Boise). I'm into canyon carving and Iron Butt rides.

I posted this just so you don't think I'm a cop trying to spoil your Saturday ride plans.

I'm looking forward to exploring another area of the US.

Welcome. Your going to miss your year round riding season in SoCal. 4 to 5 (if your lucky) months here just doesn't cut it.

Yeah...I know...in a sick way I'm going to miss 45 minute (each way) commute too.

Welcome, you might miss the 45 minute commute too (sic). It's been a good year here so far. Not too many wrecks and injuries, despite the road conditions.

Good to see another buell coming into the valley. Was thinking I would have the only cr here but looks like the popularity exploded. Welcome

thanks all...

My father in law took me on a trip through Stanley (it friggin snowed over Labor Day!) and Sun Valley and the scenery in Idaho is amazing. I can't wait until we get things going and get settled in. Don't worry...I'll get my plates changed the day I arrive.

Welcome. Our roads are some of the best around, even if it means you have to buy snowtires.

Yeah, right.

There's far too many CA plates around here to raise any eyebrows
these days. We waited 3-months before changing our CA plates to
ID plates back in 2002, and had no issues whatsoever to speak of.

AFAIC, it's not where you're from, but who you are that counts.

OBTW, back in 1988 while driving from Banff, AB to New Meadows, ID
were closely followed by Chevy K1500 with a pair of freshly skinned deer
skulls mounted over front bumper for a couple of hours in the panhandle
on US-95 which freaked my wife out. Just earlier an ISP pulled us over
for doing 10mph over, and said he didn't like people from CA speeding
through his state. Cost me $37 by mail.

Welcome to the forum! I am in So Cal on business at the moment, GAWD I wish I had my bike here with me!!!!!

Now the riding season really depends on you and the weather. Several of us ride most the year, 7-9 months and more providing snow is not on the road and or no freezing rain LOL. Keep the wheels spinning fast enough and they stay just warm enough to make you think you can trust the traction LMAO!!!

Keep us posted on your move.

Since you have visitied many times already, then you must already know about the speed limits here. No more driving 10+mph over the limit and no more lane splitting. Took me about a month to quit splitting at lights purely out of habit.

Everywhere or just in the city? This could be a problem.

That is just highway robbery. Officers are supposed to give a 5MPH speedometer error range.

Where did that happen? and did you at least fight it?

On the freeway just passed the Eagle off ramp. He let me off with a "warning". I actually kinda wanted the ticket so I could fight it and watch the officer get his azz reamed by the judge for such a B.S. ticket.

Welcome!
The cops here think the are above the law. Within one week I've had a motorcycle cop and a normal cruiser pass me on the freeway when I was already doin 70 in a 65. But yet they like to pull us over for stupid crap. I wish we had lane splitting here.

Everywhere. This was a problem for me too, I managed to collect two speeding tickets and a reckless driving within 6 months of moving here. Took me a while to adjust. I was commuting 50 miles rt on the 405 back home with the 'flow of traffic' in the evening hours at ~90mph. The CHP would cruise along with traffic at the same speed! Do not attempt that in ID.

What makes you think this is true? You are supposed to know your vehicle, and your current speed. They even give you nice "Your speed is" radar guns. If you went to court and said you were doing 67 in a 65, then you are guilty. Almost all speedos read faster than what you are going anyhow.

I would be pissed if I got pulled over for 2 over, but it could always be worse.

Welcome to the site FlyingDuc!

OH CHIT!!! I love that off ramp! Hit that bad boy 100MPH as often as I can, it's a fun turn! Sometimes, I get it up to 130MPH just so I can wheelie off of it..................................Then I woke up!
