Got to see my buddie get rear ended

So me and two of my friends were riding to work on Tuesday morning (the 9th) and we roll up on a bus on airbase road stopping to pick up a kid.

For those of you who dont know, airbase road is a 4 lane, 12 mile long highway that runs from Mtn. Home to the Air Force base.

Anyway, I was in the right lane and my boys were about 100 yards ahead of me in the left lane, stagered of course.

The school bus (huge, yellow, all lights flashing) was stoped, my two friends had just come to a stop and I was comming up to them to stop too.

This white late 90's / early 2000's Impala flys past my left side, no brake lights, just grazes my one friend's left leg (2006 FZ1), and HAMMERS my other friend (2002 GSXR 1K) right in the ass.

FZ1 guy is hit just enough to put him in the ditch off the right side of the road, and GSXR guy goes JUST AS HIGH AS THE BUS TOP and lands on his left side, in the median.

I parked my 2002 FZ1 and run over to stop traffic from finishing off my buddy and my other friend is out of the ditch and helping too.

The driver of the car stopped about 80-90 yards PAST THE BUS and was kind enough to NOT COME HELP THE POOR BASTARD HE JUST HIT!!!

GSXR guy is now at St. AL's and is the proud owner of some metal plates in his back to support 2 smashed vertabrea and matching metal pins to re-connect his two broken bones in his right leg...........lucky to be alive.

So, how was your week?

Nothing yet.....

The young man is Air Force too and we have yet to hear ANYTHING from him.
Not even a "hay, sorry I almost took your life because I am a dumbass".

GSXR guy was looking at the new Shelby GT500, but could not afford it.
I think he might be able to very soon, and the dealer here in Mtn. Home has one................

Wow! Sorry to hear about your friend. Somebody should beat the shiot out of that driver!!! I know your friend is alive but he's not technically "okay". Sounds like some serious injuries. Hope he remains positive and is a good healer.

Thanks everyone! I really makes me feel helpless when the car passed me and I could only watch as the dumb bastard proceded to take my friends out.

We might look into the chaterbox radio things for our helmets.......

"Hey man look out for that car!!!!!!!!!!!" My boys could have got over, maybe.

Watch your backs all!

Re: Got to see my buddie get rear ended

I was wondering who was involved in that last week...Also, wasnt there a motorcyclist killed there at the Exxon gas station a few years ago? Glad I dont have to ride in that "airbase 500" every morning". I think I am going to install a flashing yellow revolving siren/light to my helment...Hope they get well. As a non-important issue....are the bikes destroyed?

Re: Got to see my buddie get rear ended

Hi Snidley! My boy on his "Shift Red" 06 FZ1 just lost his left foot peg. My boy with the 02 GSXR 1K, well his rear end is shot, frame bent. Kinda fukd up how much damage a car at 70 mph will do.
I am going to try to get his bike and put his forks on my FZ1 if I can get them to fit.
You need a 02 GSXR 1000 motor? Just under 12,000 miles and he just had his valves checked last month.

Re: Got to see my buddie get rear ended

damn jimmy how dare you tempt me with that motor now if it was only a 1127 or the 1340 I would be set (gotta have oil cooled stuff). Now that I think about it....I could use the front brake calipers, and rear shock?

Got to see my buddie get rear ended

My boy got his leg bones re-connected on the 15th and is supposed to come home the 18th.

Should be back on a new bike this comming spring. I am trying to talk him into a Ducati Desmosedici. Only $72,000 and it is a street legal moto gp bike.
