First MSF for 2010

I am doing a class for five new guys on the 13th-14th of March. They are chomp'n at the bit, trying to get an earlier class, but MAN I dont like to ride when I can't feel my hands!!!

I will tell them about the site, and they seem to be good guys, so should be some good new additions.

They are sportbike guys, A few R6's and a GSXR750. I dont know what the other two have yet.

So.............NO RAIN PLEASE!!!!!

LMAO asked for no rain and you get 3 inches of SNOW. Did you guys get finished before the snow? I saw a yellow bike on the side of the road on the way back from town that day, didnt know who it was or I would have hooked them up with a transport!

MSF classes on Mnt Home AFB, run Thursday-Friday (BRC) twice a month, and once a month on Friday (ERC). They are open to Military Members, DOD employees, and dependents. Contact the Safety Office at MHAFB for more information.

If you have the opportunity and meet the requirements I encourage you to attend one. These classes are offered FREE to us and provide a ton of information and rider coaching.

If you dont have access to base then the STAR program is a great alternative. Basically the same ciriculum, but you do have to pay for the course.

I have a ERC in a half hour, and it is 27* already!!

Why would I take stars when MSF allows me to ride on any military installation and stars does not....I just wanted to know what time I dont have time between two kids and a now 50 hr a week job plus drill to find and read through information I assumed I could get on a motorcycle forum.

Actually as far as I remember the Stars course will allow you to ride on Military bases here in IDAHO. Although I will not go into the issues between MSF and STARS...basically you are only going to get out of either what you put into it.
I have been looking for the past 15 minutes for an actual link that says the above but I have failed. The Motorcycle manual just says an " approved training course". I am not sure that Idaho " approves" of MSF since the whole lawsuit thing went down with Oregon. I will look into this more over the weekend and get you solid answer.

Bree- When I took the MSF class, it was 2 full days, I think it was like 8am to 4pm.

I have already taken the MSF basic course a couple of years ago. Are advanced MSF courses ever offered? So my wife (dependent) could take the MSF course for free? If so I might try to convince her to take it!

Kat, you dont need a BRC (Begginer Riders Course) because you already know the basics. The ERC is a one day, little classroom, lot of riding, course.
The next one is in Early May. I thought I sent you the base saftey office number in a PM once, if I did'nt I am sorry and will send it to you.

Mac, your wife is MORE than welcome to come ride with us. Be it a BRC or if she has been riding a bit, an ERC!

What do you learn in the ERC? I took the BRC a couple of years ago and have put on 8000 miles since then.

The ERC (Experianced Rider Course) starts off a lot quicker. Most of the excercises are the same, but a bit faster and a little less space to get away with.

I facilitate (they dont like us to say teach, because we are "Coaches" not "teachers") both the BRC and ERC and ther is not a huge difference. But if it has been a while, attending an ERC will start right off on the bike instead of 4 hours of class before touching your bike like a BRC.

the girlfriend picked up an 08' R6 today. i rode it back to mountain home from boise. nice day out for it. hopefully we can get her into one your classes Jim, or one of steenkamps.
