im guessing the wind resistance gained to the extra 1/2mm sticking off the body likely decreased the HP by about 10%

LMAO!

I am the "co-worker".

You couldn't find me because I did not want to be found.

Glad you found the site. Now tell everyone about what your plans are with the new gearing, should be good.

You do. When they told him that he had to wear "proper protection", he put on a condom and figured he was "good to go". Typical noobie goof.

sprocket changing, so if you go down one in the front, that would be like dropping 3 teeth in the back. So Juice is dropping 1 tooth, and Katnip is going up 1 tooth. Is that right?

Howard, now be nice, this is a great place..............yea......

e11charlie - don't be faster than 10 seconds or hit 120mph, and you can get away with several things.

Whit, don't go spreading roomers that I am a good guy, I dislike all people, some more than others. LOL

Dropping 1 tooth in the front would be the same as raising X teeth in the back. By decreasing the radius of the front sprocket it takes more revolutions of the front sprocket to equal one revolution of the rear. The equivalant front to back teeth all depends on the initial gear ratio.

for example: -1 in the front and +4 in the back may be equivalant to about +6 or +7 in the back only (all depends on initial sprocket ratio).

From the R6 Forum that I read everything on, says that -1 in front is +3 rear.

Im going from stock 16 tooth front to a Vortech 15 tooth front and stock 45 tooth rear to a Vortech CAT5 47 tooth rear and a DID 520 Gold Chain

Yea, I got turned around, and went brain dead lol. 1+ front is close to -3 in back, -1 front is +3 in back. Should be a good choice.

Should be 1 in front = 2 in back from what the mechanic told me

Correct, with a 16-45 combo -1 front is ~+3 rear.

Should make for some pretty good low end out of a 600! It sounds like you have done your research but just incase... make sure you order the skinnier sprockets also so you don't destroy your chain... not sure if the stock sprocket will even fit in a 520 chain?

if you do the math it is -1 is pretty close +3 for that combo. -1 tooth = ~6% loss in the front. ~6% gain in the rear is ~2.7 teeth. Or even easier... gear ratio of front to back = 16/45 or just under 1:3
