My Vortex Experience

So I broke the shift arm on my R1 because of a combination of me pushing the shifter and the inferior stock cast aluminum piece not being strong enough. I have the fully adjustable rearsets. The kit comes with everything that you will need except they want you to use the factory shift arm.
I called technical support and talked to a cool guy Adam that explained they have been going back and forth with Yamama trying to get them to beef up the arm. Apparently recently they found this to be futile and designed their own billet aluminum (matching black) arm. The problem is that the piece is 70.00. Well when I pay 400.00 for a place to put my feet, the thought of spending another 70.00 pisses me off. For this price it should come with all the moving parts and potental parts that could wear or break should be fabricated by Vortex to ensure and endure whatever a rider could put it through. Vortex makes RACING parts for ##### sake. I called and asked for a manager. I get yet another cool dude named John. I told him my story and he said he would run it by his manager and see what, if anything would be done. I get a call back 10 min later and was offered there sponsorship which gave me 40% off. I couldnt get my credit card out fast enough

Long story short.. Vortex makes a great product. In this case their product inadvertently by design, applied too much pressure to a cast aluminum piece that wasn't designed to take that much force to begin with. Thats not Vortex's fault that the stock pieces cant hold up the demand that a racer needs to get out of their machine. I was expecting to hear something to that effect when my call was returned. Instead, they looked at it from a consumers standpoint and thought well sh!t, its not our fault but we can do one of two things....

Be corprate jerks and apologize for the situatuion and explain why they are not responsible and direct me to my warranty paperwork and citing all the many ways that they are covered and I am screwed. After hanging up from that call I would be in the garage removing everthing Vortex from my bike to list on ebay withinin 10 min of said phonecall

OR

They make a part to eliminate the issue and we can give this dude 40% off of it and ensure a loyal lifetime customer that will tell everyone that he knows how Vortex did right by him. Simple concept RARELY put into motion by corporations!

Anyways I was blown away that they wanted to help me, treated me with respect the whole time. The smart thing to do for all parties involved, they sent me away with a smile on my face and my part in the mail. They walk away with my money in their pocket. In my opinion....Thats how business should be done

That's fantastic news man. Glad you will get your bike fixed soon.

So are you going to be rocking a shitload of vortex parts now? I mean you gotta take advantage of that 40%?

I Ride: ...............

A few years ago I ordered a Vortex sprocket for the Gixxer and long story short, they didn't ship it out for whatever reason. After a week I called them up only expecting them to simply see where it was and ship it out. The guy was super cool and immediately offered me free overnight shipping and 20% off my next order. So yeah, they definately know how to take care of their customers.
