I Ride: Ktm 620 Dual-sport | 7/23-dual sport-Eagle to Horseshoe Bend
Dual-sport ride today, Monday 7/23 in the open country north of Eagle up to Emmett, over to Horseshoe Bend and looping back. Its scenic foothill terrain up to the Payette river and then over to Horseshoe Bend. Meet for 5:30 at the LDS church on Eagle rd. 1/2 mile north of Floating Feather rd. in Eagle. We'll head north on eagle rd. - turning into Willow Cr. Rd., N to Emmett and pick up Greenbrier rd. (along the canal), N to Old Emmett rd. and E to Horseshoe Bend. We can stop for a burger or pizza and a cold one at Kit’s Riverside restaurant if we have time. Return via Old Hwy. 55 (Summit Ridge rd.) to Pearl rd. and back to Willow Cr. Rd.-Eagle rd. and backtrack from there. I figure it’s about 85 miles, paved and gravel/dirt. Three riders as of early afternoon Monday. |

I Ride: 1999 Moto Guzzi Bassa, 2002 Beta 270, 2009 DR650 | When I went through a little bit of gravel that was over an inch or two deep and the bike got real squirrelly I stained my shorts a bit. Then my mind started going I am going to have to get a real DS bike. WTF was I thinking blowing a wad of $$$$ on this bike when it does not work for what I want it for. Then at the next break I find out that Wayne and Rob both had the same experience and it just took a huge load off me. So overall I think the tires work pretty well. I did not reduce the pressure in them and I think (hope with both fingers crossed) that will help it a bit. But on hard packed dirt they work just fine. I was thinking that since they are smooth they would not make as much dust as a knobby......until one straight I looked back and saw the dust wake I left for Rob. They make just as must dust as a knobby. Should read as much dust.

I am sure that I must have been roosting you. Still getting used to the change from 44T to 52T. Dust happens on gravel roads. Just cleaned and oiled my air filter, it needed it.
