I Ride: In the dirt

Thumbs up Saturday Dual Sport to Silver City!

Time for me to break my Silver City cherry! All these years, and I've never been up there. Come one, come all. We can eat up there for lunch and explore some trails on the way back, or just stick to the road.

Meet at Dan's Ferry Services in Melba http://goo.gl/maps/Rdo5T

Meet at 9:00AM, KSU at 9:30am.

Bring cash for lunch in Silver city.

Bassa, please bring those fuel cans again, just in case. I can help fill one up at Dan's.

I'll shoot for 9 AM. So far the weatherman says only 95 for tomorrow. Hopefully not that hot in the mountains.

That restaurant board is a hoot!
Glad you guys had a good ride. Nice pictures... it looks like you're way off the beaten path and up quite high.

Mike totally tested the limits of his tires yesterday, and took that Aprilla in places that shocked me and others. I was pretty impressed. We had a great ride and some great chats overlooking scenic vistas and lots of smoke! There are literally a lifetime of trails up there, but next time I'm trucking my bike up there, or reducing a few teeth from the rear sprocket. The real fun starts at WarEagle. I look forward to going back there again.

I'd need to truck my bike in for a ride out that way as well since it's a long way from here.
Rumor has it that Mike will soon be rippin' up the trails with an knobby-tired steed. Speaking of knobbies, whats that on the back of your bike?

That, my friend is a Pirelli MT-43 DOT Trials tire. And man, let me tell ya, it's the best off road tire I have ever used. Rode all the way out there to Murphy and back at 65 mph and the tire did not chunk at all. And the grip offroad is superior to any knobby that I have used before. Me likes!

I'll ruin my Dorsoduro if I keep trying to go to places like we did Sat. Thought I was gonna crash it (again) but got lucky. So what is the point of having a dual sport bike if you truck it to the riding area? Don't get me wrong.....if I am trucking a bike it will be an off road only bike. Eliminates the whole street/dirt balance problem....good on the street = bad on the dirt, good on the dirt = bad on the street. Had a blast riding the pavement home and want to take it on the Lowman loop. But.......unlike my Bassa, the DD is too easy to ride too fast. Don't know how all the sport bike riders keep their licenses

Just hold onto that Dorsoduro until next year so I can buy it!

And, true offroad tires get expensive after a while, so I am tempted to truck it out once in a while, but still probably wont!

Bassa, you and I need to go chase Duckllr around. He trained me well, there's no place your tires won't take you and there's no complaining about it. Easier on the throttle and easier on the front break. :-)

Seeing pics of your bike on that trail made me really mad, cuz I wasn't there playing.

Not the tires I am worried about. Just do not want to keep dual sporting my street bike. Most of the time it is fine but the rough stuff is where I will damage it (more) and I really like it the way it is. Now my plan is to get a real DS bike and save the DD for the street.

Looks like it is cooling off a bit next week......low 90's LOL. So when is the next ride?

I think I will wait until I get a real DS bike and save the DD.......well maybe just some easy dirt roads. But not like the last 100 yards up War Eagle.
