9/23/2012 2nd Annual Lost Riders Memorial Ride

Almost 2 years ago we lost a Young rider on Hwy 21, Chris Junker. I would like to extend a friendly request to all riders to help us make another Memorial Ride for the Junker Family this year. It really was amazing to see so many different people, with so many different mind sets all come together with just one thing in mind, riding our two wheels last year, in the name of another rider, showing support and reaching out to help others. Almost as amazing as our Bike Community coming together as we did at Krispy Kreme almost 2 years ago to raise money and celebrate the life of Chris Junker (STR8UP41908)

9:00 - gas station in Albertsons parking lot gowen and federal way.
9:30 - KSU

Now, let's start the who is all in, and someone keep a running list going... NOT IT!!!

If I get peg lowering kit installed I'll ride. Otherwise, I'll be caging it. Just hope that I'm not on call. Won't know till the next schedule comes out.

I posted before knowing or seeing it on F/B. But also considered which day it should be. I think she agrees that Sunday makes sense. So, as it stands, it will be Sunday the 23rd, unless otherwise posted.

So the roads will be open...Perfect. I say if you can't skip Church one Sunday to enjoy a ride with friends especially to remember a fallen rider you have the wrong God or the wrong Church.

I'm in (Anyone have a used rear tire, 3 quarts of Amsoil and some front brake pads for me?)

Eh, maybe I will drive this year and bring the family along. Anyone want to dash mount their Go Pro and get the whole ride on film?

Hell yeah if you are not going to ride. I have really good idea for a tribute video for this.

Instead of this being about one rider.. this should be about remerbering all riders.. Nflamz lost his brother in Oct 2008 and we lost a good friend 3 weeks after Chis.. I think it would be nice to remerber all the fallen riders..

I think that is a great idea. I think Chris would like that as well. I too lost my Mom in February 3 years ago from a motorcycle accident.

Also Randall passed away labor day weekend last year, and kenny was a week before Chris. I had actually gone from the memorial ride to the last bike night Chris was at.
Sept. is a bad month for riders. Seems like this it is the month that bad things happen

BVR does a Fallen Rider ride each year and last time I rode with them they did ribbons. I still have my ribbon tied to my bike. I like the ribbon idea because although that day was to remember are fallen friends it was something to commemorate them all year.

Who did the ribbon? and what material did they use to make them?

Rhonda, you can just go to the craft store and pick up any color of ribbon that you like....cut off a small piece and have the person tie it to their bike. I've seen these done before.....very inexpensive / low dose.

(and for those of you riding - please don't forget about Brian (Turbo)

I see no issue with a "Fallen Riders" Memorial Ride, and yes, we need to keep others in mind. I miss Brian! If that is what you want, then have an admin change the title to something more appropriate.

I would agree, would be even more meaningful to remember others who have fallen. Not taking away from STR8UP memories, lets remember and embrace ALL. They're all our family friends and loved ones.

I would have done something more like

"9/23/2012 2nd Annual Lost Riders Memorial Ride:"

It was thought up for Chris Junker, but not really "Inspired" by "BRN Family"... just sounds wierd... But hey, to each their own.

May I make a suggestion? How about making the ride encompass stops at all of the road side memorials. If not all of them just a few. Also if I could get some stills to add to the video of the ones lost. Just send me a pm and I can give you my email.

The weekend before this we will be doing a candle lighting at the corner of karcher and the blvd. Also there is a nice floral display right now at the onramp at federal way where Dak passed last year.

I put a black ribbon on my bike when I found out about Chris. It flew off after about 10K miles last summer. I can't remember exactly where, but I thought it was a pretty fitting end to having a black ribbon tied to my bike.
