9/9 Sunday - Mountain Home to Middleton (Pink Heals Tour)

This is my first ride post, and while this does not involve twisties, I can not think of a better reason to group ride! (Ride staging location/details at the end on my post. Check there for updates as details become finalized.)

Here is the deal. I belong to a riding group called Women on Wheels, Idaho Gems chapter (non-bike specific group, I am the only sport bike rider in the group...). Our chapter has been invited to escort the Pink Fire Trucks from Mountain Home to Middleton, and to lead the parade for the Pink Fire Trucks. This is a charity event for us.

To quote the email from our chapter director:

The Idaho Gems have been invited to escort the "Pink Heals" tour fire trucks (4) and support bus (1) from Mountain Home to Middleton....pending confirmation from State Police.

IN ADDITION: they have asked us to LEAD THE Pink Heals Tour PARADE through Middleton at 12pm. This is really an honor for us, both as a group and personally to support this event for this worthy cause.

In case you are unaware the "Pink Fire trucks" are coming to Middleton to support the community and their firefighter who herself is battling cancer.

This PINK OUT Rally will occur on Sunday September the 9th. The organizers have requested we wear pink (but it is not mandatory). Although the details are still being worked out for the escort and staging areas please keep this date open. I'm guessing escort from Mt. home maybe around 10?..... more info to follow.

For your info JoAnn's fabrics has pink T-shirts for 4.99+tax. We will not be wearing our vests (unless it's pink) in the parade (during escort is OK). We'd like to show 100% support for the pink during the parade.

Please let your friends, other riding groups etc. know of this event, all riders are invited. It's worthy of the ladies in the biker community to support it.
Please please consider this ride. A big biker showing would be awesome!!!!

WE NEED WOMEN RIDERS (lots of them!) AND THE MEN (lots of them!) that love their women to join us in the escort.

Known Details for the ride:

When: Sept 9, 2012.

Staging: Escort participation from Mt. Home to Middleton: *Gowen Field I-84 exit Chevron Station/Burger King 8:15am kickstands up 8:30am. * *Meet tour trucks at Hampton Inn in Mt. Home 9:15am *leave 9:30am.

Parade participation only staging: Middleton Firehouse 302 East Main at: *11:15am. * *Parade to start around 11:45am.

No one from here other than myself and my hubby. We had 10 bikes escort the fire trucks. We stopped at the new St Luke's in Nampa and had a police escort to Middleton. Was a blast not having to stop for intersections.

It was a good time and it sounds like the drivers were happy with the escort. It sounds like a lot of times there are no escorts for them and that they were impressed enough that they want to return in two years.

I will have to see of I can find a link to some pics to post.
