CRF450 Motard CLEAN!

Saw a guy with a CRF450 on 12th in Nampa. Talked out the window to him for a moment, did his own conversion--extremely sanitary. Totally tarded looked and sounded great.

Cool ride.

Sweet, more tards!

On Saturday, I spotted another tard on Overland Rd. It was actually the first time I've seen a tard other than you (Capt Crash) while riding mine.
I wasn't able to ID the make but it was all black and had a taillight that was pretty square and sticking straight out the back similar to the DRZ400SM.

Re: CRF450 Motard CLEAN!

what is involved in a motard conversion? Just street tires, signals, and lights? Or do other parts get changed/tuned for the street?

Re: CRF450 Motard CLEAN!

If you do the REAL conversion (like Hoz) you're working with a dirt bike that needs:

New rims (17s)
Lights/signals
Big front rotor (rehang caliper too)
Electrics (possible battery/alternater/stater/magneto changes)
Inspection and licensing.

The electrics can be the hardest part...that's why lazy dirtbags like me buy a prebuilt one...

Son, this Idaho. There's no inspection! You can get a plate for any dirt bike because you're required to license any OHV (off highway vehicle) that will be on a road at any point including just crossing a county road when going from one riding trail to the next.

There are Idaho legal requirements for a motorcycle to be used on the road and, while the DMV doesn't check for these when issuing a plate, these are the items a police officer would be looking for if you rode by or he had you pulled over:
a) headlight
b) taillight with brake light
c) one mirror
d) horn

So your telling me i can roll into the dmv with any ol' bike with some lights, etc and get a plate and be good to go on road? I have been looking around for a platform to build one off of, but had kind of been discouraged by the the licensing process, i thought it was gonna be more difficult than it is apparently. I also still have your tools whenever you need them back.
