I Ride: Husqvarna SM610 | A bit of altitude on last nights ride.
Last night, I FINALLY had the opportunity to go for a good street ride after moving to Price, UT 6 weeks ago. I've attached a couple pictures to supplement the overly long ride report below. Two of the guys at work ride Harley 883 Sportsers and I invited one of them to join me for the ride (the other guy works in a different office and I never see him or I would have asked him too). So last night's "Group Ride" was two of us but it was definitely great to be out there. We rode in a remarkably straight line from Price to Huntington, grabbed fuel and a Diet Dew and then went up through Huntington Canyon, over the mountain and to Fairview. The scenery along the way was GREAT with the exception of all of the deer at the edge of the road - sure, they're nice to look at but I prefer them to be a LOT further away when I'm coming around a corner at 60 mph. There weren't many tight curves but that was okay - it basically looked like the Idaho City to Lowman stretch but felt like the great sweepers as you're leaving Lowman and heading for Garden Valley. It was a solid 40 miles of sweepers with some tighter corners thrown in! We stopped at the summit on the way over to grab a quick picture with the elevation sign and, while standing there, the only other rider I know here (the other Sportster from work) rode up and stopped to chat with us - he was heading from Fairview to Huntington. After turning around in Fairview, we went back up the mountain and then turned off onto Eccles Scenec Byway to Scofield and then to Colton. This section had some tighter corners as we rounded Electric Lake and then went East. Not as many deer here but there were definitely out. The ride past Scofield and Scofield Reservoir made me regret not bringing some plexus and microfiber to clean my helmet visor (and jacket and bike) due to the 4 billion bugs per mile that you encounter when riding along a reservoir at dusk. After passing Scofield and one of the MANY coal mines in the area, we hit highway 6 (the main road into Price) and cruised in on the easy road at dusk. Next time I go on this ride, I'll bring camera along for some of the GREAT scenery along the way, particularly the reservoirs and lakes up top. |

Nice! I was looking at google maps the other day to see how far Price was from BFE and thought the the route that you did looked like it might be a good ride. Good to hear the you got some miles in. Definitely post some scenic pics.

Hey Hoz! Looks like a good ride! How'd the bike run at that elevation?
