Question Clear Creek Station on SH-55?

The best part of SH-55 (Payette River Scenic Byway) runs from
Banks to the Round Valley Rd jct then is pretty much a drone to
McCall.

Haven't stopped at any cafes btw Cougar Mountain Lodge out in
Smiths Ferry and the eateries in McCall. Clear Creek Station just
happens to be the next restaurant after Cougar Mountain Lodge
when northbound on SH-55 after Round Valley Rd.

It's my understanding that Clear Creek Station used to be a pizza
joint. Has anyone been there before? Was wondering whether it'd
be a decent place for edible crud and beverages.

Thanks, man, for the quick response! A friend of mine is riding up
to Clarkston this coming Monday (visiting his sister) and invited
me to join him. I can only go as far as that cafe then have to
return to Boise albeit at a much faster pace as he's kinda slow.

Cougar Mountain Lodge isn't bad, but it's more about the location
than the food. Same thing with Bridge Street Grill in Lower Stanley.

Met a friend up there for lunch this past July 7th. He was returning to Boise from Pocatello via Arco and Challis. The daughter of the owner works as a server there, and is very attractive. I like taking SH-75 from Stanley to Sunbeam then back to Lower Stanley for lunch.

farefull if u stop at the gas station just as you come into stanley, last time i was up there they had just sealed it and it was all gravel, but looks paved coming up to it. Hence the scratches on my bike
possably goin back up that way if someone wants to make a ride out of it. I have family in challis

When was that?

The biggest surprise at that gas station when I was there 2 months ago was the change from Chevron to Sinclair.

Lower Stanley also has a tiny Sinclair, but have never stopped for gas there.

Thxs for the welcome, fxrbill.

Sounds as if you found another place out on SH-55 that you like better being that you don't stop at CCS anymore.

Which cafe would that be?

FWIW, have always liked the Blue Haven Cafe in Lowman which also has free wi-fi.

That was a few weeks after I was last there. I came this close >< to
dropping my bike two different times at the Rocks Lodge on SH-21.

Once at the northern exit when I had to suddenly brake at a steep
angle in the rutted-up dirt, and once at the southern exit doing likewise
in the gravel. Good thing my right leg was long enough to keep it upright.

Dropped bikes happen to the best of us. BTDT. I'd take a drop over a crash!

Well, guess what, Clear Creek Station was closed this past
Monday (10:40am) as was Cougar Mountain Lodge.

We continued to the Route 66 Cafe in Cascade for brekkie
so looks as if there's nothing open btw Banks and Cascade
during the weekdays. Not sure about weekends.

BTW, didn't see any LEOs on SH-55 btw Eagle and Cascade
going up and back again that day.
