I Ride: 2007 R1

New kid with a 250cc Two stroke

I met a new kid in Mtn. Home with a Suzuki 250 two stroke.
He had a Maine plate on it. (I think it said Maine) But it had a real plate.

I dont know how, but he got it registered. Now if I can get him to wear a helmet...............

Good luck. I can't even get my own kids to ride with a bicycle helmet. I remember when i was younger, I somehow thought that riding with a helmet would cramp my style and make me look silly.

Considering the number of adults who refuse to wear one, I wish you much luck on your mission!

man, when I was growing up, helmets on bicycles were not even thought of. only road racers on tv wore them. I never saw a kid in one in my entire youth..
when I was 19, bought a used 700interceptor. let me tell you that helmet made one bada$$ frame slider..

amazing what some years of maturity will do
and unfortunately what they won't do..

Yes and Yes

Yeah, Air Force kid and yeup it is an RGV250.

It needs a ring job, the young man can start it by HAND! I saw him do it.

And again, I did not think you could register one in the states..........

Holy crap - 70hp on a 250?? Gotta love the two strokes. I still have a two stroke 80cc Honda Scooter, and have to say that power off the line is amazing.

I saw him riding the 2 stroke in town, no helmet on. I thought it's just a matter of time before he regrets not sportin a helmet. Then I thought, how did he register that bike here in the US? Hopefully he will have a come to Jesus moment with his riding and get on the straight path...

well, this would be a D!ck move to someone that you don't know well. If he were a good friend of mine that refused to wear a helmet, I'd do what I did a few years ago in Alaska. Had a friend that rode with me but wouldn't wear his lid off base. I made a very anonymous call to said airmans first shirt and mentioned that there were a few people under his supervision that didn't sport their lids off base. That first shirt spent the next two weekends at the local hangouts in civies waiting for the short dews to roll by without lids. my friend was lucky that i convinced him to wear his that day. Anyway, it says that to get your life insurance from the military (which I'm sure he has about $250+ of), you must wear your lid, be covered from head to toe in safety gear, and have so many inches of reflective material on. inform him of that, although i'm sure he knows it already.

Yeah I was surprised to hear he wasnt wearing a lid just because of the Military issues with that....hell they make all sorts of reflective military spec gear too....

There are a handful that have been registered, but I'm not sure how they managed it. Every once in a while an Aprilia RS250 shows up on eBay with a plate on it. They usually want a lot of money, though.
